OK, who’s up for some live action from QR900?
Scheduled departure 0200h; got going at 0300h.
I opted for a dinner rather than breakfast. I think most around me did the same.
Maybe I’ll go the omelette coming into PER this evening
. Scheduled arrival 1900h.
Salmon starter, and very good tortellini (but not as good as the superb gnocchi coming up from GRU yesterday), followedby a very good cheese selection.
Wines the same as yesterday. The Torrontes is very good. Haven’t tried the other two whites. May give the SA Chardy a nudge later.
As mentioned, I was not taken by the Pomerol. The Shiraz suffered from what I think commonly afflicts Shiraz at altitude - medicinal flavours came through. The Malbec worked very nicely IMO.
I like the way they point up ‘Discovery’ for the Argy wines. Trying to tempt folks out of conventional mindsets. I like that approach.
The Champagne was Lallier (yes, me too, - not heard of it outside QR). OK, but not exciting.
What I really, really like about QR is the fabulously flexible menu for their ultra long-haul flights. They plonk the whole offering before you on the menu and say: ‘Just let us know what you want and when you want it.’ Brilliant stuff, IMO. Mix and match as you like, and when you like. Nothing too much trouble. A well-sorted system that one NP could learn from, I reckon
.
I really have to say that QR does it for me the best of my OWA J experiences. (With the caveat that I haven’t had JAL experience).
Good espressos.
If the pics come through out of order, I won’t try to sort them. (I’m always puzzled about how the upload engine orders pics - it doesn’t seem to be in order taken, or order selected).
WiFi fluctuates between blazingly fast and moderate. Pretty darn good, all up. It will be interesting to see if it is sustained out over the Indian Ocean.
