The King was actually not in Stockholm to see the maiden voyage. The Vasa was supposed to sail to Poland to pick him up. The lack of stability was know but no-one had the courage to stop the voyage without the King being around.I thought it went down the slips into the harbour, and then more-or-less toppled over straight away, right in front of the King? Ooops either way.
