Cooling off with a cold, albeit very honey-sweet, vanilla shake in an A/C coffee shop overlooking Mother Ganga at Rishikesh after a very hot and steamy morning checking out the Beatles Ashram (more to come on that interesting experience soon).

Arrived at Sirolo, Italy last night to a huge thunderstorm that hit the town. Thankfully, woke up to this view this morning.

OK, all you ‘60s groovers and groupies - you know, the ones that were REALLY there and consequently cannot remember it at all (the other reader can go back to their warm cocoa and rocking chair now...).

Guys, pull in your gut so you can take one last, longing look at what was the centre of your life all those years ago .

Girls, take off your bra... err, err, as you were; that ceased to be mandatory a while ago .

Grab your beads, slip on the xx_L kaftan, wait for the double dose of your rheumatism meds to kick in, go to the toilet, then sit cross-legged. Go all TM - but, above all, try to look happy .

Happy to say I was there - well not India, but Melbourne in 1964 when the Beatles came. I sat up in a plane tree outside the Southern Cross for hours. Then went to the concert at Festival Hall. All I could hear was snatches of songs in amongst an absolute wall of screaming. The Rolling Stones at The Palais was slightly less noisy. Oh, and I heard someone say the other day that the Stones had outlived the Beatles by 50 years

The view from tonight's office, Smith and Western in Royal Tunbridge Wells (Kent, UK). The building is Grade II listed and used to be a railway station. Perfect warm up for my trip to the US next week as has a real cowboy rustic style theme in the rooms and restaurant.

I decamped from Rishikesh to Delhi by train yesterday evening and flew on to Goa today.

Wandered down town for a well-deserved Kingfisher or three and dinner at DTR (DownTheRoad) bar resto. A great duo was singing 2100-0030. I stuck around until the end. They were sensational - great sound and great repertoire.

Apart from the smell from the horse drawn carriages, the square in Krakow is one of our favourite places. Hope we get a a nice by blue sky when we visit early next year.
