The view from my "office"

mmmmmmm sloe gin - yummo 😍

A very decent haul in the end...... bought 3L of gin on the way home too, ready to get going with the next batch. We might try adding some different spices this time, last time we added in some cloves and cinnamon sticks. We've put your name on a bottle.... just need to get permission from ScoMo to come collect ;)

Wringing the neck out of the East Midlands until lockdown starts. Fairly obvious office yesterday, but for those who can't put 2 and 2 together...... it's Sherwood Forest ;) Lots of nice autumn colours and interesting looks mushrooms all over the place! There were some nice trails to hike, we did the Wildwood Trail.

Outlaw tree - the major oak was a perfect place for outlaws to meet, pass messages and store supplies.

Legend has it this is where Robin Hood and Maid Marion were married

Grr now I've got that rotten theme song stuck in my ear - 'Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen......'I assume it was from the original tv series & it's driving me mad that I can't think of the British actor's name. Curly hair and a dimple.

@Flashback what is the difference between sloe berries and blueberries ?? To me they look mighty close - I presume tartness ?,
I have never tasted a sloe berry or for that matter sloe gin !

Totally different as sloes aren't berries. Sloes are very hard and you need to prick them with a needle before you marinate them in the gin. You can actually put them in the freezer and if the skins burst that suffices. The colour is usually the colour of the Four Pillars Shiraz gin

One is edible, one is drinkable :)

Exactly this - we always stick ours in the freezer to 'pop' them before chucking them in with the gin.

If memory serves me right I believe @kookaburra75 was after a bottle too.

I too thought they looked just like blueberries. Do they grow in Australia? I am am a new gin drinker having been given a bottle of ink gin earlier this year and our lime tree has a nice crop this year. 😊
