The view from my "office"

I've wanted to do Dark mof_ for a while - this outdoor feast area looks great. Maybe next year...

Outdoor has the advantage of more space and the better food options close by (all the flame/bbq stuff) but of course is colder and some will get wet if it rains (not all).
But anywhere you want to sit & eat, book accommodation as soon as they announce the dates for next year. The Tasman is convenient :)

The rain let up this evening for a short while, the cool absolutely fresh sea air was a joy to inhale. AS I walked to dinner I captured the pastel skies of twilight well after sunset. As anyone who watched the AFL tonight, it didn't stay like this for long.

I asked about the Yellow Deli because of its link to the Twelve Tribes cult. (It and the Common Ground bakery in Picton). There were people queuing outside every time we drove past. Wonder if they were there for a sticky beak. I was not interested in adding to their coffers at all. Members give all their money and possessions to the organisation and work voluntarily. There are at least 2 communal houses of the group in Katoomba.
No shortage of cult and offbeat groups in Katoomba. We had a fellow in probably in his early sixties come up and start talking about Monatomic Gold as a white powder and the role it played in making the World whole again, treating every kind of disease and generally the go to substance. Who knew?!

I think you need to make a decision for next year fairly soon. I was going to suggest the Customs house hotel just across the road from Dark Fomo feast set up. I stayed there last year. I obviously got a cancellation as I only booked a month out. It was ~$250. The position can't be beaten for the Winter feast and Salamanca markets. The Mona ferry is also just across the road,

But I looked at the corresponding week next year. Prices on Booking.com $170 per night for a Queen room and $260 for a king room. Some room types were already sold out - there are only 30 rooms. It was very nice and a lovely brekkie in the morning is included. The only problem is parking. Only 5 sites nearby and you must book. They have another remote site but a long way away. That site finally has plans for redevelopement so possibly not available next year.

The more upmarket properties are $500 per night and the Tasman has no availability on booking .com. But on the Marriott site you can't yet book June 23 but a month before it was from $417.

Ah - I was going to suggest the Tasman, but you are onto it:

Upmarket pubs for $500 during Dark mof_ is surprisingly low. Even the Crowne Plaza these days goes for $350/ non peak night when I've checked it recently.

You'd have to be careful in what room you booked in The Tasman - the ones on the lower 3-4 floors on Davey St (presumably the cheapest) would be fairly to very traffic-noisy.
