The view from my "office"

For those who were wondering how the 9 Euro fare was affecting regional trains in Germany. This was our ride for over an hour on the way from Frankfurt to Marburg. Apparently this was an extreme case the other two regional trains we took had more comfortable loads. A backwater one was only half full and another one had all the seats taken and only a few standing. On busy routes overcrowding is very likely - as reported by our friend from Frankfurt. We had our tickets checked on one of the less crowded trains.

When you've momentarily finished, tell us what the occasion is...😁

Well the main reason for this staycation was just because. We had a free night at the Novotel for them screwing us at the start of Covid. Back in mid 2020 all borders were closed at I had an Accor Plus free night that was going to expire. Perth Accor hotels are pretty dire but at least the Novotel (used to) have spas on the top floor with great river views. So we booked in there.

On the morning of the check-in the hotel rang me to cancel the booking. The WA government had taken over as a quarantine hotel. So that booking went out the window. I followed up with the manager who promised a free night when we like. So made use of it now. The free night was a basic room. At the time of booking I upgraded to a junior suite for $100. At check-in we have been upgraded to a full suite (Accor gold might have helped there). Hotel is nothing fancy but the room had good views and large.

Tonight at the Como was a combination of using the Amex Plat $450 travel credit through FHR. Additionally there was an Amex Travel promo of spend (I think) $500 and get $100 back. So worked out nicely and here we are. This weekend was picked as timing just worked out well. I do happen to be aging further on Tuesday though. I'm looking forward to Saturday night ;) Don't disappoint me :p
