So glad I stumbled across this offer! Ends June 30th!
It takes $20 off a DJ fare, just couple it with a sale fare and you'll be flying a TT priced fare with far superior service.

Flight center have priced matched 2 fares for me so far, and I don't think they will hesitate for the few more upcoming bookings I need, just waiting on confirmation of dates/times.

What I do find disappointing though is that DJ sale fares/lowest saver fare must only have very small allocations when compared to Qantas.
QF usually has sale fares across the entire day which is more convenient, while DJ fares are usually limited to early mornings or late evenings.

I'm glad too! The way I read that promo, was a one off $50/member, not per booking.

I've just booked OOL-SYD rtn for me and the other half to spend a day shopping in SYD. Missed the $40.50 happy hour fares though, bummer, but still managed $56.50, not bad! $5.65/SC.

Tomorrow, I'll be ringing all my clients to firm up flight dates and try to get a few more flights on this promo!

Thanks for the heads up all, very much appreciated :)

I now have 5 flight center $20 vouchers waiting for me, because I didn't have time to wait for the vouchers to process due to happy hour fares. BLAH.

Morning - not sure if this is the best place to post this, but...

I am flying Econ from SYD to NY in Sept. I want to make the most of this from a SC and points perspective.

I am struggling to understand which airline option offers the best return.

Virgin Atlantic offers 0.5 velocity points per mile, and no SC (and no kicker for being Gold).
Delta appear to offer 1 vlocity point per mile, again no SC (and no kicker)

Anyone got any thoughts / confirm my understanding.

Also, anyone got any thoughts on how many points it would consume to upgrade from Econ to PremEcon on Virgin Atlantic?

Thanks in advance.

Bit confused why you have VS in there, Virgin Atlantic to new York would be the long way round (not unusual for many of us here to do this) and you would get SCs:

I would suggest V Australia and Virgin America would be the best course of action:

I have found PE taster has been giving PE status credits (40 points for a short trip and 60 for a medium) this may be agood way to get there quicker.

All I can say is, Run Forrest Run :D good luck, hope you make and look forward to seeing you up the pointy end

Well, since the cat's out of the bag...

If you're Gold and chasing Platinum or just trying to maintain there are some very good options. For example, book a OOL-SYD saver fare for $75. Then for $35 upgrade to PE. That will give you 40 status credits for $110 or $2.75/SC. If you can manage one of the cheapo $55 fares, then it comes down to $2.25/SC. Pretty damn good - though you'll have to be quick, as the taster ends in a few weeks.

I thought it had to be bouncing off a Flexi fare?

Not for those with Gold Status it seems ...

Yup, tis true. I tried to keep it a secret, but it was let out of the bag. I can confirm it is no problem to upgrade from saver if you are Gold. It is also possible to upgrade the night before if you have an early flight.

Out of the bag, yep, my bad:p oh well, its all there to share

Heh, at this point I don't think it matters. Sadly all this taster fun ends in just a few weeks. Hopefully to be replaced by a new Platinum/Gold upgrade system! :p

Scuse the VA noob here...

So if I'm flying to Melbourne, the way I understand it is I don't get any extra bonus SC's for going via Perth (ie DRW - PER - MEL), as opposed to going DRW - MEL?

Unless I book it in two seperate legs, is that right?

Cheers

Simsy

Yep, that's correct. It's measured on origin to destination regardless of where it's routed via.
