The WP shadow

SIN-SYD on Monday, +1 and I had 48D and 48G with E & F as shadows.
I had a great sleep as I had 2 shadows ;) but +1 didn't enjoy the flight as much!

I don't want to sound desperate but I would take the nice girl every time. Not that I would be able to strike a conversation anyway.

People are reading way too much into "shadows". It is total luck based on about 47 factors after the initial "blocked" seat.

After checking that 30B was still vacant about an hour before boarding, I came down the aisle to find a nice girl sitting in it.
Oh well, I thought, that shadow would have been nice, never mind.
I stopped, smiled and motioned that I wanted to get into 30A.
The nice girl's pretty face did one of those alien transformation things, snarled at me and she stomped off down the back, never to be seen again!
That gave me a good, hearty chuckle. And saved me the trouble having to strike up a conversation...
Call it luck if you like, I firmly believe it was my PS shadow   Hoping for more sunny flights as SG...

Maybe she thought she should have had the shadow!

:D Definitely!
I don't think she cast a shadow herself...
I checked to the rear a few times during the flight to make sure she wasn't coming back to stick her fangs in while I dozed luxuriously in my dual economy seat!

Maybe she WAS the shadow! :) I just flew 4 J domestic flights today and had a golden shadow on all 4! was really nice :)

For me the WP shadow is a real thing, I normally fly with my AA number on QF metal, and can honestly say, the treatment from QF is exactly the same as if I was flying with my QF status.
On heavy flights, the shadow definitely works best in the seats behind the bulk head infant row (which doesn't bother me), the shadow follows me on JL as well and on BA the shadow often disappears to an upgrade to PE.

Interesting that you say that about BA. What's your strike rate for PE upgrades?

Seems to be close to 50% on the SYD-SIN route, was not as successful when I flew with my QF status, more successful when I flew with my AA status, AA code on BA metal in any class gives full value in points and miles, could be that BA where all things are equal perhaps favor AA over QF remembering that BA is in heavy competition with AA for the lucrative trans Atlantic market so may want to keep the AAdvantage elites happy first before QF elites. Just my thoughts.

Just checked EF and my WP shadow on QF650 tomorrow PER-BNE (B763) has just vanished!!!!

Not sure if its the loading?? Still a few blocked seats in EF so I'm guessing these are for WP1's.

if anyone picks 25E I'll give'em the felper treatment (in jest!) :)

I flew BNE-HKG and appeared to have a shadow. I'm SG and was in 26B. The guy in front also had a shadow and thankfully he sat in A so I didn't have a seat back in my face.

I flew with 2 others, myself in 32K on the reconfigured A380, the 2 others in 32J and 32G. My shadow was over in 32F :D ... happened consistently on 3 A380 flights.

Ive had a good run with "shadows" recently - probably about 50% of flights and if I book the flight a couple of days in advance I get a blocked seat showing next to me on expertflyer.

Today I'm flying in 1J and 1K has that nice "X" on it, will have to see if it lasts.

Earlier this week I had an international flight on the 747. I booked late and only had the last row of J to pick (forward cabin was full). After I landed from another flight, I had a voicemail from the P1 centre saying they noticed I was at the back and have moved me to 1A. I got on the plane and pleasantly had the shadow in 1B. Thanks P1 :)

Still discussing luck?

How do people go with shadows on full flights?

That is very impressive, QF.

Someone somewhere in Mascot is actively looking after valued P1 as it should be.

(Not that I will ever get there)
