Theres a new spirit - Qantas

My guess would have to be some sort of revamp/improvements to the FF program. Maybe introducing platinum one?

Then again, that dosen't really fall into the 'New Spirit' category.

*Getting completely unreasonable*

Maybe they are retraining all staff to make them happy and pleasant people to deal with?

The ad says new international gateways, better connections and more rewarding frequent flyer program........

So probably not just to announce a new brand of whisky for the QP?

Bugger, my QF flight departs at 9.30 so I'll miss the news.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we regret to advise that you'll only receive SC and Miles up 'till the distance of travel as of 10am due to enhancements recently announced"

QF to come out and back a carbon price and same sex marriage off the back of rallies in Canberra today.

Way to go AJ, leading from the front.

So my guesses are:

Gateways:

- BER
- KUL

Connections

- Major new codeshares including CX/KA through China,
- Kingfisher through India,
- Malaysian through SE Asia

FF Revamp

- P1
- New international upgrade process

The downsides

- NRT gone (codeshare only with JAL)
- SCL gone (codeshare LAN only)
- JNB gone (codeshare with SA?)

So what else are we expecting?

I thought they were making a killing on JNB?

EZE or SCL?

NRT will be a shame! JQ doesn't cut it for that market!

DFW to A380 please - now that would be a winner!

CGK and MNL gone as well I suspect.

DO hope my guesses are wrong about no new routes that I have published previously.

Red Roo has started a thread to keep us updated and deliver news as well from 10am

What do you call the A380s then? And the 738s that they just got?

A puff of fresh air when a cyclone is needed!

Maybe they will be confirmed as Boeings mystery 777 orderer!

Willy Brandt would be an excellent move with AB opening up a number of opportunities. My main concern though would be that in winter, if TXL is anything to go by, flight ops are rather more susceptible to inclement weather in that part of Germany.

While I love Frankfurt as a destination, I'm sick of arriving into FRA around 6am with other flights from the far east only to find there's two customs stuff processing five hundred pax.

I'm not a fan of KLIA, but I am a fan of an improved OW footprint in the region with MH and with OW not stagnating as an alliance. Saying goodbye to transits in SIN might be a price that needs to be paid.

Slightly cheeky tweet from me ;)

@QantasAirways Here's hoping the new Spirit includes priority boarding for Domestic flights ;)

I call the rest progressively being retired. No major airline can just replace all of its fleet - my understanding is that the QF fleet is reasonably aged compared to other airlines - not the best but not the worst even within the same class of carrier (i.e. not comparing to Air Pakistan). There has been investment recently and new aircraft are scheduled to join the fleet.

And before you call me a QF apologist you might want to check my other posts about QF...

knowing qf , this is all hype, hoo har and fanfare for little gain! im going to wait for the disappointed responses come 10am!

I am going to try and be positive about the changes. We know that they are going to take a razor to the international route structure. I am fortunate that the routes I am likely to take will stay (LHR, LAX) and if they are cut they are likely to be replaced by good codeshares (CX to HKG, JL to NRT). Knowing that anything they give in terms of improvement will be a real improvement.

My only disappointment will be if they do what they did in the last round of changes - give benefits to everyone but platinums ;)

Out of interest what is the benefit of codeshares on OW partners if flying in J - I am only thinking the status bonus on carriers that don't provide the bonus at the moment (CX for example) - other than that the benefit of a codeshare only goes to whY paxif flying discount whY? Am I missing something?

My beliefs are with this as before:

1. The new spirit- Asian spirit.
2. As the other guy said "please collect your bags at the jetstar collection counter". Qantas- A Jetstar Group Airline.

Bring on 10am.
