Some things not mentioned in the announcement - does this mean no changes to these services on QF metal - there was considerable speculation about these
  • SIN-FRA
  • SYD-MNL
  • SYD-HNL
  • SYD-CGK
  • SIN-BOM
  • SYD-NRT - seemed implied QF21/22 would remain to feed the JQ franchise?
  • LAX-JFK
  • AKL-LAX

Yep, no Platinum love (though no WP1 either). I think they're softening us up for a massive downgrade to Gold, with WP1 slotting in above. :p

The changes annouced today are primarily Qantas Airlines changes. But we are always working on improving our Loyalty Program and you will all be the first to hear about any changes. We will be annoucing the benefits of PlatinumOne later this year but those annoucements will not include downgrading current Platinums to Gold.

I hope so Red Roo! And at the same time there are some added benefits given to normal Platinums!

This from the @QantasAirways twitter account was a particular highlight-

We are placing an order for 32 new A320s & 78 of the exciting next-generation A320neos (most sought-after in world) #anewspirit

Never mind that they're most sought-after in the absence of an extant direct competitor....

Just to keep things tidy, I'll be closing this thread.

Red Roo started anannouncement thread on the same subject. See http://www.australianfrequentflyer....program/building-a-stronger-qantas-32271.html. Please continue the discussion in that thread.

(I realise this thread started an hour earlier than Red Roo's thread, but figured its better to channel all discussion in the "official" thread which was started and (presumably) monitored by Qantas.)
