TomCat's new digs!

Looks like it gets great sunlight... Sitting in your alfresco area, looking at your garden. That imust feel great!

I need to get some turf in the next couple of weeks. Still haven’t decided what type. What did you go for? Did you run any sprinklers/irrigation?

We got the Sir Walter. It's a bit more expensive but hard wearing, lower allergy and has a smaller dormancy over winter.

Ran out of time to organise irrigation, sprinkler will have to do.

We ended up with a bit more than we ordered so we turfed the whole nature strip. Still need to prep the front yard before we can turf it.

Be aware that the grass selected won’t keep pure. You’ll get other sorts in, like the lighter ‘winter grass’. Annoying at first, then meh, it’s all grass.

I put irrigation sprinklers into a small area. Waste of time. Therapeutic to hand water.

Because the subsoil allowed ponding based on your recent photo after rain you need to apply water quite slowly. We have a product that will do that. The latest WiFi battery controls that you can connect to a tap are quite suitable for that area
I am really not into hand watering even though it may be good for you somehow.
The trick is to apply the water accurately and at a rate that won’t cause any run off.
To be safety compliant the lavender /purple coloured products should be used if you use your reclaimed water supply pipes for watering.

Just reading a ‘what to do in the garden in December’ and saw this on lawn care:
“Also, the nitrogen content in dogs’ urine can burn your grass or make dry patches worse. Training your dog to go to the toilet in an out-of-view part of the lawn is a non-invasive way to combat this. Alternatively, you can also purchase mineral-based ‘dog rocks’ that you place in your dog’s drinking water to filter out impurities, making it less likely to burn your lawn.”

Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans overnight....

In a couple of months BC is going to be too busy to hand water ............ ;););)

We had flooding rain in Los Angeles too which is really unusual.
I hope your new lawn didn’t float away.

Fortunately as Bella has got older, she's got less interested in crash-tackling the tree.
