2002 & work constraints meant we had limited time to travel. Qualified for a conference in Cancun. Flights included Sydney to Cancun (via LA), Cancun to Zagreb (via Miami & Frankfurt) & finally home from Rome-all in Y, all in a month and before I started to absorb info on this site.

Chichen Itza was a highlight in Mexico

B52 Stratofortress at the aviation museum - it was so big it was impossible to get pics of anything more than a bit at a time. The coughpit was very spartan - certainly didn't look like a comfortable place to "work".

Bofors Gun.jpg
Just a bit of trivia: This is a Bofors Gun at the military museum - the first time I had seen a real one, but growing up I remember we had 2 models of this gun on our mantelpiece which my father made after WW2. During the war he was in his early 20's and worked as a munitions factory machinist, modifying the army's anti aircraft Bofors Guns for use on warships so that they could shoot below horizontal as defence against enemy aircraft attacks coming in under the line of fire.

2013. Following Kenya, a brief trip to Rwanda for the gorillas.

The first one was our initial encounter - a juvenile that bounded out of the jungle onto the track - and promptly sat down on my feet!

From an 2011 trip to 'The Pinnacles" near Cervantes, just under 200 Km north of Perth. We went there just before sunset. My wife had checked the time of moon-rise so we could be there for both the sunset and the full moon.
