I have oft been in thrall at the magnificent Christian structures in Europe , it was nice to find the Dutch Church on Banda Naira last year.

I remember my grandparents and parents writing the word "rooves" for roofs. I still pronounce "roofs" as rooves. Similar to hooves/hoofs.

Pronunciation is no excuse for spelling. It’s English after all!
