Top Three Holiday Photos

We had a 12 month 'Working Holiday' in Europe in 1976/77. We spent about 8 months working in the UK and toured through Western Europe for 3 months. Unfortunately most of the coloured prints have faded to uselessness and our negatives were lost about 3 house moves ago. The two here are just about viewable as monochrome prints.

Feeding the flying rats in Piccadilly Circus - taken in glorious B&W by one of the photographers who hung about there. At least he delivered what you paid for. You can see I married out of my class.

Stonehenge, sorry faded and out of focus. In 1976 you could still wander right through the monument. Same as for kookaburra75 and their TR.

The Acropolis.By that time I had give up trying to shave in caravan parks. Flared slacks were still the rage.

V B doesn't look anything like that now. Those large trees are gone and there are now 2 buildings (chapels ?) at the entrance. These are pics taken at the Gallipoli centenary dawn service in 2015

Villers B. 1.jpg
Pic taken the day before the dawn service with TV broadcast truckslining the driveway. The revered status of Australians for their part in saving the town during the war was something to give you goosebumps. Quite incredible that the respect is still so strong after 100 years.

Villers B. 2.jpg
A steady stream of people parked at the nearby town and walked in almost complete silence along the 2 - 3km to the Memorial site in pitch black with just a line of spot lights to mark the way. We arrived at 2am to get a good seat and then sat for hours waiting for the service to start. It rained steadily for most of the time and despite having multiple layers of thermal and rain gear we were freezing

Towards the end of the Dawn Service

First attempt at Safari in Kruger last year - got some absolutely cracking light one afternoon.

Those changes obviously happened between 2009 and 2011. My photo in 2011 shows the trees have gone and the 'chapels' have been built.
