WINTER2011 currently gives a 10% discount for TID online...
I can highly recommend TID based on a large claim we had to make in Thailand for a motor bike accident. TID were simply brilliant - above and beyond what we could have hoped for.

An email from TID indicates that SPRING2011 may now be used to obtain the 10% discount.

I would still prefer British PO travel Insurance at 25 pom quid yearly vs 300+ aussie bucks.
For Aussies to pay 9x there is a factor I do not understand (unless collusion is at play)

Thanks for that.

Good point ethernet. Do you have a link to post?

Yes, British Post Office and http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travel-insurance/

While there , note most Aussie retail super funds did worse than putting money into the bank for the last 10 years

Anyway you look at it, Australians are paying too much, and we have fewer options and alternatives - by the same people who pawed at easy super money.

Where does it say must be UK resident on Post Office site?
It was obvious back when the post was made - no longer it seems.

However if you drill down to the PDS's you'll see it: (Your Travel
Insurance Policy
)
Eligibility
To be eligible for this insurance:
• you must be a full United Kingdom resident and;
• have a United Kingdom home address and;
• each trip must start and finish in the United Kingdom.

Cheers serfty...you have done it again...I looked on the Post website but could not see it(why they did not have on home page grrrrrr)

Who are you with serfty for yearly worldwide?

When I perceive a need for Annual travel insurance I use what suits best at the time.

For 3 of the last six years I have used TID. One year I used Columbus. Currently no on an annual policy, but will reassess before I do some mixed (non Oz origin travel) in April.

Going to be in LA for 5 days and looking at car hire.
Is TID $5k Excess for car hire going to cover me?
Do I need to take out daily excess reduction with company as well?

Regards

As I posted in the other forum, excess is not relevant for USA rentals.

The ONLY things TID covers with USA car rental is personal injury and, maybe, liability.

For a five day rental, you might prefer to check the all inclusive on-salers such as "driveawayholidays' or "arguscarhire".

See the Travel Insider Tips -> Car Hire, Taxis and Limos forum for more.

I have taken out TID cover but just want to know what it has OVER Covermore?

A quick check sees that Covermore allow you to allocate Cancellation trip cost, that brings down the premium below TID with discount.

I was told by TID that even though policy has commence and return dates, that I have up to 5weeks cover.
I wanted it in writing, which they have emailed, but informed I only have one extension on policy that I have used.

Does this mean that if I went on a trip 4 weeks later, then I could have extended this policy to a 3month policy and would pay less than taking out new policy for 4weeks second trip?

Back on-topic - does anyone know the latest discount offerings for TID?
