Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can arrange travel insurance for a couple aged 82 and 76. They want to go to the UK for 5 months to visit their grandkids and during this time they want to fly to Orlando for 10 days whihch will include a 7 day Caribbean cruise with the grandkids..

They are really only interested in medical cover and as Australia has a recriprocal medical agreement with the UK, they will not require any cover whilst they are in the UK.

They cannot purchase travel insurance in the UK for the USA trip as they are not residents of the UK.

They cannot purchase travel insurance in Australia for the USA flights and cruise as these don't commence in Australia. At the time of going to the USA they will have left Australia for +3 months

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We use 1Cover for health primarily but also coved our flights that started and end outside of Australia. 1Cover was recommended to us by couple of seasoned travelling friends. One had to make a claim AND they got paid. Give them a try is all I can suggest.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately ICover does not offer inssurance to travellers over 70yrs

Nib will cover them at that age. Not sure if it will give them all they want in terms of insurance.
I suggest it’s easiest (not cheapest) to just insure the whole trip and be done with it.

Flights commencing overseas and cruises beginning overseas are certainly not excluded from Australian purchased travel insurance in general. And I don’t know which policies would exclude them as it would negate the whole purpose of travel insurance for Overseas travel.

Should be able to buy a policy that begins just before it’s needed.
