Lucky so and so!Impeccable timing - I received Pilot Gold last week with 80 status credits required to maintain gold for a year.
1 return Choice flight Mel-Adl will get me gold for a year
Same day posting of the 3xSC for me as well. Got my WP back instantly. Did the sums and ended up booking another BNE-MEL-BNE J trip in July that will see me requalify and retain WP until June 2026.For those playing at home… landed by the time I’d walked from T4 to the lounge in Melbourne.
Will be interesting to see if any issue occurs due to a late arrival pushing us onto a 6pm connection instead of 5pm (which has been delayed anyway).

The T&Cs state that the flights need to be booked and ticketed during the offer period. So you’ll lose your triple SCs for the MEL-SYD flight. Whether you’ll lose your SCs for the SYD-MEL leg depends on whether that leg will be re-ticketed when you make the change.I have activated the offer and made a booking before 29 May for travel next week MEL-SYD-MEL on the same day. I may need to make a change to the booking to bring forward the MEL-SYD leg by one day. Does the brains trust think that making a change now will stuff up the triple SC offer? FWIW I took a screenshot showing that I have activated the offer
Flying more and more with VA over QF
Fly ahead is superb. I once had a QF CL member tell me they used to book the cheapest flight (usually last flight of the day) and as a CL benefit, they could ring and move to any flight on the day. As a P1, I usually could get it done at the J lounge.Me too - Fly Ahead and EconomyX are game changers. Family pooling also useful for leisure trips.
Lots of complaints on social media that Virgin are making to too easy for people to reach gold and platinum. I’ve experienced some of the domestic lounges at peak and they are a bit of a jungle
Hopefully you get to Platinum before one of your transits through AUHFlying MEL-OOL return business 240 points, which will maintain gold. Wife and I will be flying to Europe and back in Etihad J, so Platinum will be well covered. Jeez, it’s hard work doing it on my own dollar after a couple of decades of company funded flying. But have somehow managed to keep gold and platinum since Velocity launched. it would be nice if such loyalty was rewarded…….
Won’t happen unfortunately. I would actually have dropped to silver if not for this promo. We will, of course, get into the Business lounge, which looks fine enough, and I will be doing my best to get an upgrade from J before we head off next March. Would love to experience First Class lounges for once. First World problems and all….Hopefully you get to Platinum before one of your transits through AUH
You would get about 280SC’s per person each way from Australia to Europe so with family pooling you would get Platinum or be close enough after the outbound journey so a chance you could use the F lounge on the return tripWon’t happen unfortunately. Maybe. It does take time for status upgrades to take effect though. You would get about 280SC’s per person each way from Australia to Europe so with family pooling you would get Platinum or be close enough after the outbound journey so a chance you could use the F lounge on the return trip
Well if QF WP I would value the Jetstar ticket more if not equal given that both flights cost the same monies to buy and earn the same amount of points and status credit given that the QF WP get to use their superior domestic lounge where LITERALLY anyone and their dog can enter the VA lounge (now that pets are allowed). Only tradeoff is Economy X seats (and hey are they that much different than a regular seat in the middle except for slight wider legroom and "perceived" comfort)? And side note I thought WPs are specifically reserved for Flying Kangaroo passengers with status. The more you knowFly ahead is superb. But VA gives this benefit to WP over the phone, just like QF CL. Best perk of VA WP.

Would rather be able to Fly Ahead to spend as little time at the airport as possible… on either airline… so lounges aren’t a huge issue for me (hence I didn’t mention it at all in my post).Well if QF WP I would value the Jetstar ticket more if not equal given that both flights cost the same monies to buy and earn the same amount of points and status credit given that the QF WP get to use their superior domestic lounge where LITERALLY anyone and their dog can enter the VA lounge (now that pets are allowed). Just fyi, this is still an undocumented thing, but most days you can fly ahead on QF too especially on the golden routes. It's all on the app (you can do it even when the lounge says no). Usually says "to avoid weather" but happens even on blue skies.Fly ahead is superb.
