Triple status credits on Virgin Australia

@henrus when I called VA Bus I was told any bookings made thru VA Business portal are not eligible for 3* SC promotion as corporate travel doesn't qualify - I would love to see if you get 3* SC - please update
This was not though the VA business portal but my works corporate travel portal (done by flight centre). I wonder if there are two possible things that could have gone wrong here:

1. Requirement to add velocity number at booking (whilst corporate travel is meant to do this it doesn't always work)
2. Partner airlines on the same ticket, the flight in question was booked via work with one flight Qantas and the other direction Virgin.

Sh$t, damn, f@rk. VA have unilaterally changed my SYD-MEL-OOL (ret) to SYD-OOL 🙄

Other than “Accept” those changes they don’t give the option to chose alternatives. Have to call. What a PITA.

They will honour ORC
Just another PITA from a timing perspective.

Anyway, it looks like it’s just the first pair. They’ve cancelled the late flight MEL-OOL. Hopefully they can rebook me on early flight pairs. Will call tomorrow…

Catastrophe averted. Easily rebooked over the phone to a better timed flight combo - actually will see OOL in daylight! Plus less loitering in the MEL VA lounge.

Yes, schedule changes can be used to your advantage!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t change the dates for both legs - which would have fixed a potential “Made any travel mistakes” (more to follow - depending on how this trip pans out - it‘s Booked for July, so still time for more problems).

Same day posting of the 3xSC for me as well. Got my WP back instantly. Did the sums and ended up booking another BNE-MEL-BNE J trip in July that will see me requalify and retain WP until June 2026.

Flying more and more with VA over QF (funnily enough, soft landing from P1 to WP with QF same day I got VA WP back) so this promo has really worked well for me.
D'oh, should have looked at this more carefully. I didn't look into the re-qualification numbers after re-attaining WP.

On the back of this promo (which gets me half way to plat) I have now booked enough flights to get me to 8 sectors and just over 1000 SCs. With me and my wife’s pooled J flights to Europe next year, two more years of platinum. I must say I have been missing the little things, like paying extra for Economy X as a lowly gold member…..

The first offer ever that's lined up with flights for me. Made it to gold just in a Sydney to Perth return flight. Not the best value but it's all I had. Did use up 2x $400 Amex TC though.

I booked Melb - Brisbane - Darwin and return and then Melb - Cairns Return
Both work trips and a real bonus for my attempt to get back to Gold

Question - anyone know if making same day changes with same PNR is ok? My original flight also had an email came through re having faulty entertainment if that’s anything.

My latest corporate travel bookings did automatically get the 3x bonus SCs with no issue. For the previous flight I mentioned earlier, I was able to contact Virgin and get it fixed as it was indeed eligible.
