On the other hand they already have been handed the most severe punishments for ball tampering.
ICC has handed a maximum of a 1 match suspension.
Du Plessis has had 2 guilty findings of ball tampering. The last in 2016 when he was the stand in captain for South Africa. He still got the permanent job.

I think we Aussies like to set our own benchmark though and what other people have received isn’t relevant and now suddenly it’s obvious we are no better than the rest. It’s like trying to be Gold standard that the rest look up to. That has now been destroyed.

There was mention before of the ACA (present and past cricketers association). It will get interesting for them and significant conflict of interest. They will be asked no doubt to review any sanctions applied by those players, but those players who have been tarred by association (Leadership Group) will be seeking ACA support in order to distance themselves. And from all the reports from Test past players there is a lot of support for at least a 12 month ban if not permanent.

not disagreeing with you but aimed more at the confected outrage from other countries particularly Du Plessis and the English.

Yep. Agree. Although maybe we flounced our superiority in their faces too much. I know Warner was very vocal about Du Plessis at the time. How ironic.

I am not sure if I have understood you correctly or not. If you mean the Leadership Group they are not tarred by association they actively cheated. Or at least all those that were discussing how to cheat when Bancroft overheard them and volunteered to be the one with the yellow tape. All those that were party to that discussion are cheats and should go.

If it was the whole team, then the whole team should go.

Those who were part of this Leadership Group who had no involvement at all, have been tarred by Smiths reference. I understand one of the two who seemingly were not part of the discussion, have sought assistance from ACA. .

It’s an interesting point you raise though - if you knew about the potential plan and said nothing? So in your comment, what does ‘party’ mean. I’m not sure that if you knew about something but didn’t tell someone that you are part of the plan. Then there’s the next question - if Lehman seems as umm, part of this culture as indicated, then you might think there’s no point telling him as he wouldn’t do anything or would agree with it anyway.

I think @Pushka is referring to any of the Senior Leadership Group that were not involved in TrouserGate. The whole team is tarred by association by being in the team a at the lunch - but we have no idea where the meeting took place (was it at the lunch table openly, or a group at one end that pulled their chairs together, or in the bathroom)?

Any of the Senior Leadership Group that didn't know what was going on - why not (like Boof)? Ignorance, or were they on the outer in this episide (willingly or not)?

On a slight side note, Tassie have declared at 1/166 with Qld requiring 127 to win. There are in the break of innings. There has been significant rain at my office, stopping about 30 mins ago, so I think there will be some delay in play starting (knowing what the Allan Border Field {Albion} drainage is like - poor!). We might need some of these guys to head onboard a plane tonight.

I think it was pretty ordinary of Smith to say ‘Leadership Group’ , unless they were ALL involved. Which he infers they weren’t. But by refusing to give names they are all targeted.

In hindsight they must be totally regretting that press conference. They started as though it was kind of a humorous exercise. Smith throws it over to Bancroft to explain. WT? Clearly CA didn’t know it was about to happen. They did not have any legal advice prior. Why didn’t Boof stop them? If he even knew about it. And is this all just a cover up for Warner?

Lots of passports being printed up right now! Next game starts Good Friday. Now I know why MrP didn’t want to go to our non Foxtel connected beach shack on Friday.

If they were part of the discussion and agreed to the course of action that was then taken.

Yes it can become a huge problem if one finds many around you start to indulge in such practices. I would also be very surprised if this was the first time either.

Being in the national team makes it harder for someone to just leave too, as to avoid it as it the national team is the place you want to be and is hard to walk away from.

One of my BILs is an ex-soccerroo and played many games for Australia. At one time he was playing on contract in an overseas league competition on good money. Unfortunately though he soon realised that there were many players in many of the teams who where actively cheating. Soul destroying stuff and it was not simply a case of refusing to play either as contracts etc were in force. It took him a little while to be able find a way get out of his contract so that he no longer had to be part of it.

Then there’s the next question - if Lehman seems as umm, part of this culture as indicated, then you might think there’s no point telling him as he wouldn’t do anything or would agree with it anyway.

And this is probably why he needs to go. There seems to have been a number of practices under Lehman that were not desirable.

I would believe that that press conference is very revealing that there is a much deeper overall problem than than just this instance of ball tampering.

Didn't realise boof had such a controversial history - opinion piece in the SMH hasn't missed him.

Renshaw off to South Africa.

He really wasn’t like that in SA. Oh god. Now Theresa May is commenting. India of course, as expected. Way to kill a brand.

Renshaw added to the test Squad - Renshaw added to Australia squad

I wonder if he knows given he's currently out in the middle of Allan Border Field securing the Sheffield Shield for us (and apparently the team has had a ban on mobiles during play).

Live Scores: Queensland Bulls vs Tasmanian Tigers

Considering QF63 goes at 11.55am from SYD, I'd think he'll fly out tomorrow. Unless they use SQ via SIN, or SAA via PER, or EK via DXB

Well, he's missed the VA to PER and SAA to JNB - it leaves in 45 mins.Book flights with confidence | Google Flights

Reckon his dad sorted out a sign or something.

Well, Joe Burns just got out and Matt continued to accelerate. Now 1/120 (so 7 to go), but he's missed the VA flight. Will be great to see him back in the Test team. I know you have history with the family ;)

Confirming that Warner is out for the 4th Test Match! Is Langer flying to Jnb as well ?! :)

Now he can have a quiet celebration and get onboard that flight:

81 not out of 83 balls, chasing 127. Not quite single handed, but he's in form.
