So in your example, pagingjoan, if you were to get the 25k before 31 August 2015, what would you new Gold expiry be? Similarly, if you didn't get the 25k but did get the 37.5k by 31 August 2016, what would be your expiry? Basically, I'm trying to determine if biting the bullet and meeting the requirement in year one will give me the same expiry date as if I qualified in the second year, or if it actually buys me more time.

As a result of this status match I've flown with TK in J four times (two long-hauls) and found them to be outstanding. But I cannot fathom how their IT systems are so appalling. Both the website and the app repeatedly fail to produce airfare search results and the website frequently returns a 404 message. FlyerTalk has many such tails. Amazing.

TK has very attractive fares, an outstanding J product and an awesome lounge in Istanbul. You could do worse than to have status with them, particularly considering Aegean is now requiring a minimum number of sectors on their own metal, significantly reducing the attractiveness of their FF program.

I just got a status match for an enquiry that began in March ... 2013!!


I contacted them back then. They requested additional statements which i sent in April that year and i never heard back from them. I sent a follow up email late last year but nothing happened.


Back at the beginning of this year (March probably?) i sent them a fresh copy of the statements and never heard back.


Overnight i just got an email confirming i had been upgraded to Gold.

I haven't done much investigating with Aegean, but I agree they have made it harder to maintain status. I don't know where TK fit in the 'ease to maintain' scale.

I managed to keep *G with MEL-SIN Y one way with SQ and BKK-xIST-MXP return J with TK in my first year.

Edit: Never had any trouble with SQ/TG/NZ lounge access.

Note that mid October this year TK changed their earn and burn rates, so I am not sure what that has done to the ability to re-qualify. I will try to work out the earn with my previous flights (above) to see if they would have been enough.

I'm eyeing off a DUB-xIST-SIN return in J with TK for just AUD2600. It would get me a big step towards the 25k in the first year.

Sorry. Have been travelling (not with TK), and missed the question.

Short answer is though that I don't know for sure what the new expiry date would be for each of the scenarios. Optimistically, I had hoped that it would be as JesicaTam has suggested.

It does seem a long way into the distance. Will have to work on it but that means departing from the OneWorld chase.

I applied for a TK status match from QF P1 in August 2014 so I could get lounge access etc when flying on SQ ex PER. No response, so I booked a VA status run to attain VA SG/WP and this run will be partially complete this week, moving from VA red to VA SG. Mission (almost) accomplished.

Wake up this morning and I had received an email from TK status matching to 'Elite' status until the end of 2016, five months after the original request. Better late than never I suppose.

They even sent the refusal email twice... once the week I applied ( about 3 months ago) and resent it again last week...

Double whammy let down after only 1 request haha.

Apparently they will only match One World or Stair Alliance.

No difference between P1 and WP in this case. Both are OW Emerald and will give you status match to TK Gold.
