Were you on an A333 for each leg? Was the J seating IST-ARN Continental style or real J?

Yes, A333 for both the long-hauls with true lie-fat seats. Very spacious, far better than BA Club World.

IST-ARN was an A321 and ARN-IST a 738. It was real J for both. I was stunned their onboard chefs even flew the short hauls.

Anyone worked out how to get their Gold card (apart from going the Istanbul to collect in person)??

If it hasn't turned up, there's a "lost card" link on the website (after login). Got my Elite Plus card that way !

Elite Plus? Well done! Is this a step up for you with TK?

From my inexpert position, it seems a big gap between Elite and Elite Plus but that may be because I have only a rudimentary understanding of their earning conditions.

However, I was delighted to log on after receiving an "earn" notification a couple of days ago, and to find that I have requalified for Elite - for another two years. Star Gold is a great addition to OWE, with our international travel patterns.

Thanks again to this forum for the introduction. Certainly would not have been there without AFF. :)

I was matched to Elite (*A gold) and earned Elite Plus. Three return J trips to Izmir and one to MNL did the job.

Can't see myself ever getting to Elite Plus. But the Star Gold is a pretty good deal, so happy to have that benefit.
Do you see major differences with the Elite Plus Status?

Don't think it impacts on *A. A few extra perks with TK and more recognition + better earn rates I think.

Yes, that's my understanding re *A, too. Both Elite and Elite Plus provide *A Gold.

The better earn rates on TK could obviously help with a move up to - or a requal for - Elite Plus but that is of limited use, of course, unless a good deal of travel is on TK, which is not the case for my own travel patterns.

Good luck with retaining the Elite Plus. Assume it is for two years, as is the Elite?

thanks have just done that.

Air Canada would not recognise the status without the card, even though they entered my number and I earned points, said their computer showed me with no status

I flew BKK-MXP return in J two years ago which was enough to requal. I thought I may have to chase it up as my profile had July 2014 as the expiry. Until now: another two years membership has just arrived in the mail.

I got my kit this week also.....

So Star and Oneworld now covered, now have to try a re qual for VA Gold, or just give up on it.

maybe I should try to push next RTW to * and Delta so to have VA lounge access? Can use TK to actually use lounges whilst I qualify.....can see a challenge coming up!! :p

have my Elite Gold expiring in September and wont be flying TK or *A carriers on any paid fares till then. Any suggestions on how to retrain Gold?

The card has saved me a huge amount in excess baggage fees over two years!!

Got my pack recently with the expected downgrade to Classic Plus (*S).

I guess one upside is that I won't need to worry about checked bag fees if I travel UA or AC domestic Y.

Glad to hear they are still handing these out... wonder if they'll give me a second status match if I ever actually started to fly *A ;)
