TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

Kayo also has a bunch of US sports too, Dad is fine with the resolution, as he doesn't have a 4k TV anyway, and the picture is good enough. The other criticism on Kayo is lack of subtles on some broadcasts when same show on foxtel has the subtitles.

I loathe all sport so any sport content on any streaming service is a turn off for me, and certainly would not pay for it.

I personally have 6 subscriptions (4 of which I share with my Dad, i let him use my account gratis with his own profile) and they all add up to less than the cost of Foxtel. I find I favour different services at various times of year depending on what new content has dropped, but rarely bother suspending as usually Dad is watching when I'm not, fetch is the only one I suspend as typically 8 months between new seasons of the UK shows I watch there).

1. Netflix ($10.99/month) - I downgraded to plan which no longer allows for simultaneous streams on multiplescreen, since they prevented sharing by multiple IPs. Dad now has his own subscription. I refuse to downgrade to the cheapest plan that has ads, but do watch on tv and tablet if travelling.

2. Amazon Prime ($69 annual, although will increase to $79) this is the least expensive as if you go annual you only pay for 10 months, there is always some cash back from Amex (typically 25-50%) and you get free parcel delivery. Order 6 items a year from Amazon and the savings on delivery have paid for it, plus you get music and audio books which I don't bother using.

3. Disney+ (increasing to $139 a year next renewal) also only pay for 10 months, I mostly watch the Star content (US Dramas) but also Doctor Who and some Star Wars and Marvel. I don't watch any actual Disney shows.

4. Stan ($16 a month) least watched, and one i would ditch first if cost was a problem.

5. Paramount + ($89 annual) also only pay for 10 months.

6. Fetch Variety Pack ($6/month) I pay for this this Dec-Mar each year to mostly watch BBC first content (and Xmas specials) such at Call The Midwife which all drop from Xmas and are done by Easter. But also has Universal and UKTV.

Of the free streaming SBS is best as no ads unlike iView. At the moment quite enjoying season 2 of Muster Dogs on iview.
Thanks for rundown with pricing @Lynda2475 .

It would be handy when recommending a show to include the streaming service, such as "I really enjoyed season 1 Kin/Netflix" Saves asking.

Isn’t it a documentary that remains current no matter how old? Love it. As Jeremy Clarkson would say ‘down at the red tape factory’….
Same as “Frontline” and “The Hollowmen”, both of which are currently available to stream via Stan.

That whole team at Working Dog Productions have written and produced some brilliant satirical shows over the years.

What platform are you watching it on - from just Watch is seems to show Apple but I can't find it on Apple
I didn't stream it but this seems to be a way -

You would need an AMC+ subscription, but I don’t know for sure whether this show is readily streamable yet from Australia. More info here -:

Alternatively, wait until AMC eventually license the show to another provider. May turn up on iView or SBS On Demand etc in the near future?

Add Binge and above mirrors mine

So I've now signed up for Kayo and Binge for a free trial. Binge will suit my needs but it's the same price as the Foxtel bundle anyway. Kayo I'll try convince the other half to try out on the CrIcket tonight.

Ditto @kookaburra75 - just watched Utopia (only first aired in 2015!)
As I work as a consultant in and around Canberra, that show just makes me shudder - it's too close to "real life" for me.

One of my Communication Managers came from a TV background and said that Frontline was hated by the mainstream tv, as they based their characters on people in the industry.

I think that’s the beauty of these shows and the brilliance of their satire is that so many of the characters and stories are solidly rooted in reality. As they say, the truth is all too often stranger - and more incredulously comical - than fiction ;)

Agree @kookaburra75
I volunteer with two local community groups, one to get an annual festival up and running (no picnic since Covid) and another to get a new building through the local council.
I think the Shire must have a "National Building Authority " as nothing has happened in the seven years we have been at it!

I feel your pain. MrsK is involved in Dragon Boating (and me for a few years until things broke), and they hope to move into their new centre at Grevilia Park in a few months - it's only taken 15 years of discussions. Never give up :)

MrsProzac was part of the national and world champion women's team back in the 1980's. Dragon boats were last straw for my lower back.

Streaming , similar to others we do tend to rotate most of them.
Amazon Prime which the odd parcel delivery is handy
Netflix - that is our mainstay
Paramount Plus - have it as yearly due to Star Age universe mainly . They just had an excellent year deal for $49

Disney + - just cancelled it after having for four months with an excellent deal
Stan - just cancelled it for now

There’s a WCMO post lurking there. The proliferation of streaming services is a right Royal PITA…😔.

AND the very annoying thing about Australian streaming services is that they are poor relations of the US services because of syphoning and zone restrictions by Foxtel and the like.
