TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

Started watching the new series of Broadchurch last night. Very interesting way of doing the procedural instead of the usual "here's the body" and "the second person they talk to is the killer". Protagonist(s) are more human than the usual superheroes you get in a lot of dramas.

Has David Tennant left The Doctor behind at last? At least he's not doing an American accent.

Thanks Warks. Can you report back later in the season and let us know if the high quality has been maintained? I am banking the season to binge watch and am hoping it hasn't jumped the shark. No spoilers please :)

Quite enjoying it but I find it a tad annoying with all the back stories and 'human interest' stuff. I much prefer a straight whodunnit.

I want to register my personal distaste that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is not on Netflix Aus.

Thankfully I have found a decent website Shush.se - Watch TV Shows and Documentaries Online to indulge.

Or re-indulge, as the case may be.

The teen daughter just watches the series constantly on DVD on a laptop. As soon as she finishes she watches Angel then back to Buffy. If it was on Netflix we mightn't get a look in.

I think it was on Presto but that went kaputt.

It is probably not a good idea for you to have a link to a Pirate Site in your post on a public forum. You do not know who is looking these days.

Well I am 100% the opposite.

I personally much prefer the series crime show where it takes 10 or more episodes to solve the crime/s and where the perpetrator is not at all clear for some time with many false trails. I also love the much great depth of personalities that the characters have.

Love The Fall, Broadchurch, Paranoid, Marcella and all the Nordic Crime Noir, etc.

Have you seen "Murder in the First"? It's American so not quite as good, but it has 3 seasons and I didn't mind it.

No, so thank you.

I will check it out. I note it is rated as an 8.57 on my usual goto site which is an ok rating. The better shows tend to rank over 9 though.

I like Nordic Noir (especially the early ones) but it seems that the British are particularly bad in spending a lot of time building the backstories - I enjoy red herrings and dead ends but it is the interminable family stuff that annoys me. Programs that go on for several/many (if they can sustain it) episodes are not what I dislike at all. Being part of a character's family squabbles over who babysits etc for example when it really doesn't add a lot to the storyline are the things that I find tedious after a while. A quick dip into it is OK but if it is laboured over many episodes, spare me. :)

Iron fist... C grade at best..... Train wreck so far..... So disappointed from hype and you tube previews

We will have to agree to disagree then as I personally did not find Broadchurch to be full of "interminable family stuff".

And that's what makes the world go round.
I'm always on the lookout for great series. I love the US political series. Designated survivor is back now - not sure if it's poorly acted or actually very clever.
