TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

O.M.G......

Just finished binge-watching "Big Little Lies" .

Breathtaking, with an incredible performance by Nicole Kidman as Celeste; Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern also provide a formidable and strong female cast as the mystery and the various relationships slowly unravel over the seven episodes. Tightly written and directed, beautiful scenery around Monterey, beautiful houses, a multi-layered script. The plot device of jumping back and forth in time was a little reminiscent of Bloodline, but with more twists and ending in a very satisfying climax. The soundtrack is amazing as well. The book on which this screenplay was based was written by Liane Moriarty and set in yuppie Sydney, but has been (successfully) transplanted to Monterey, California. (I've ordered the book from Booktopia).

This is a simply outstanding mini-series. Just watch it.

Five gold stars and an elephant stamp.

I read the book a while ago. Some of her work is fabulous. Just read the reviews before purchasing.

Oooh ... good to hear.

Broadchurch Season 3 people - thumbs up or thumbs down? I have that stacked up to watch too.

I'll say thumbs up to the end of Season 3 of Broadchurch. They didn't tie all the loose ends up with all the suspects but they came up with an in depth explanation of how and why the sexual assault took place. It was very confronting at times. Probably best to watch with someone else if you feel you will be affected by the subject matter.

Hmm. It rambles around with red herrings to fill out the series. Last two episodes are quite good but one (me) is left with a feeling that there are better things to do with one's time.

The new Line of Duty, by example, is far more riveting and dramatic.

Watching the "Feud".

Portrayal of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford by Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange and their rivalry. Quite good.

Just finished the series "Medici: Masters of Florence."

Not bad. Historically not very accurate and the reality was much more intriguing, but entertaining.

Loved the locations of Pienza and Montepulciano which are fabulous. No real 13-14C locations left in Florence itself these days but having spent quite a long time in them, the towns of Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano and Viterbo are excellent.

Homeland is really interesting this season. The writers obviously put their money on Hillary winning but hedged their bets with all the Trump-like opposition going on. I'm impressed where this show has gone. Of course it's totally far-fetched in some ways but then what isn't?

I do heartily recommend "Inside Number 9" on Netflix. Some of the best TV I've seen in years. If you like twists this is the show. Sometimes the twist is that there isn't a twist.

Yes I enjoyed it. It starts out well, then drags in the middle. But, to me, it falls apart in the last few episodes. One wonders if the writers lost the plot after Hillary lost! :)
