Many of us have tried and tried to get the email function to work, all to no avail. Some have even found out too late that they have in fact been targeted recipients of VA offers but the email never arrived. Thanks to the community spirit of AFFers in general, we get to hear of the perks as well!

I'm in the same boat, neither my wife or I received the email and we are both SG.

In the infant thing that's curious, same problem here. Although for some if the prices buying my 17 month old a seat and getting the SC's pooled wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Discount may work on dates outside those in the OP. I did a search and found flights from MEL - TSV on 14 December for $155. Was $195 when I booked last week.

This is what I don't get. They know people are going to tell their friends and family and so on the code. I suppose the only consolation is that it still technically means they are looking after their elites by giving them a head start.

Since Virgin compensated me for the lack of business class last year I had to fly them again. It is only fair.

Looking at BNE-MEL in November and the discount is $5 on a $99 flight and on the return via SYD the discount is $5 on a $145 flight.

Not much of a discount is it?

I have managed to take advantage of this for planned trip.
NTL-MEL-PER rtn. Booked a J saver return NTL-MEL and flexi rtn to PER with Comp upgrades to J both ways.
~$660 / 80 SC's each way for the trip.
Bit of an issue with the website and I had to call for seat allocation on the J saver but otherwise I'm happy

Not at all. Discounts are good if you already need the flights. I was looking to book some flights I did not need and the $5 off is not incentive enough.

Just like hotels offering up to 60% off, up to 70% off, up to 80% off etc and everyone of the sales leads to the same room rate.
