I think Nigel's post proves my theory. They only want (perceived) bad credit risks ...

Yep,I'm frankly staggered that they consider me a low risk presumably based on the fact that I own my house and they can sell it out from
under me if I default (Which I obviously am not going to do)yet they ask for payslips from people earning income that I can only dream of.
The science of credit scoring is weird.
Cheers

Sorry for weird question but I have only started the "chur and burn" CC theory for the last month or so (think I will stop at the 2 x 30000 bonus points I have gone for) - previous to this I have had the same credit card for the last 13 years - to pay the J* card I can't do a bank transfer but have to pay the card by Bpay - is this common?

Yes it is.

does it count as a cash advance if I pay it from another credit card? (therefore possibly double dipping on the amount) - might ring my bank and ask

Mostly yes it will. Otherwise, you mostly will not get points for such payments. So double dipping is in general not possible (no doubt someone will mention any exceptions to this rule)

I work for a small 5 people company and the payroll person (owners wife) is overseas for a year doing everything remotely- jetstar rang today to speak to the payroll person, I said this and dont have a landline, only international mobile and email. Sure the chance of me getting approved are very slim now :( not fare..

"not fare" pun intended?

Just got the card today - before I received the pin code or anything else.
Activated over the phone with a very helpful CSA. Confirmed enrollment in QF and that 20,000 points would be delivered upon first purchase and 10,000 points upon spending $5000 before 31 May.
Also confirmed no annual fee for the first year.

So far so good. See if/when the points come!

I am pleased (not so pleased actually) to report that my application for the card has been rejected.

Also got this offer, even though these days I don't think you can do much with 30000 QFF Pesos these days. I rather have 30000 KF or VA Points, or even better, 30000 Amex MR points.

Yes I am quoting my own post  Whilst I still think QFF Pesos doesn't worth that much, but after posts by serfty and markis10 on J/FASAs, and realisation that I have more trips later this year and current lower balance of MR points, I changed my mind. Also I did my homeloan refinance late last year so I should not have a problem on that end for a while. So I decided to collect more QFF Pesos and applied for the card. Two days later I sent in payslips. Then about 1 week later (today) I got my Platinum card and activated it. Call me cheapskate!

Data point on income: I have the income to get myself a Amex Plat Charge card without issues, I have mortgage but always pay CC balance off each month.

I am also getting my better half to apply as well. She wants to travel more!

I have jumped onboard this one - have just emailed my payslip and await a reply.

Applied Monday Feb 27.
Received SMS asking for latest payslip March 3, emailed copy same day.
Received card in the mail today (March 9).

EDIT:
Salaried income between $110 and $120k
Asked for & received $8k credit limit (the minimum for the Platinum card).

I decided to ring them today, after no contact since applying. Helpful person gave me the reference number. Told me that they'd asked me to submit my payslip - restrained myself from replying that it might have helped if they told me. They also asked for other income proof. All emailed in. No idea if I'll get it as I have high income but after reviewing today on the phone in think I've over estimated my monthly expenses by about 80%. So I might appear financially stressed.

I thought about about applying but after reading this thread, I gave up. Actually I didn't know it is such a trouble to apply for a credit card.

I got my first CC (qantas ANZ) back in 2008. I was self employed making like 30k in the first year of my business. I banked with ANZ so I called them and asked if I could get a credit card. They asked me how much I earned, how much I spent, my accountant (which I didn't have one before). After 5 mins or so on the phone, the guy said 'You have been approved with $7.5k limit. Please wait 3-5 days for the card to arrive' lol They didn't ask for anything. Just gave me a credit card after 5 mins on the phone.

Things have changed now??

Also amazingly the J* Platinum Credit Card actually looks pretty nice. Better than Virgin Money Platinum Flyer .....

Hey I just asked for $5K limit(did not realise min limit for Plat card)
They have asked for Payslip, which I emailed.
When can I expect an answer?
Reading posts it may turn up in week if approved?
When do you give them QFF number to get bonus points?

I believe $6K is the limit for the plat card (well thats what I asked for and got)
QFF number when you activite the card - they will want to explain both rewards to you - I just interupted and said I want QFF thanks - here is my number

Looks like I have the lowest plat card limit so far, $5k which is all I asked for. Also it looks like I'm alone in thinking the Jetstar $ option is better value than QF points but was told I had to pick the QF points option to get the 20,000 bonus points. Guess I'll just swap to Jetstar $ after I get the bonus points.
