Catch of the day have a couple of 2 wheelers on runout:

Antler Business 100 Luggage | CatchOfTheDay.com.au
There's only 3½ hours to go with that CotD offer.

Note they are selling two very similar rollaboards, one a 4 wheel spinner for $120 and the other a 2 wheel roller for $80.

The specifications state both have the same external dimension and internal capacity. Why - the specs don't take the additional dimensions of the wheels into account. The spinner is 300gm lighter.

As a result either the 2 wheeler complies with 115cm regulation & the spinner does not or the the spinner has about 4 litres less capacity.

I always trust Antler, they're a really smart design. I've got the Saturn, which is a hard-case 4-wheeler. It's so smooth, it glides along so easily. I have the full set. The medium dimensions are 68 x 47 x 25 cm and my cabin is 55 x 40 x 20, meeting all the requirements. I asked about the wheels when buying them, because I was a bit worried about them breaking off too. I was assured I am guaranteed a 10 year warranty, though I don't think I'll be needing it as there is no sign of damage so far. I bought them from Luggage Hub in Melbourne, they've got 40% off the retail price so it's really hard to say no haha. They've also got an online store - I hope that helps you.

Just took my new first ever large 4 wheeler on its first field trip. I don't quite have the technique as yet as I wheeled over the bobbles at the top of a ramp at HKG a/p and had to take a giant inelegant leap over the full length & hand luggage as it unceremoniously flopped flat forward. Phew, once again praised myself for my gym work to stay fit and ready for almost anything.

Those bumps for the vision impaired can be a real challenge for luggage!
I have learned to use the 4 wheeler as if it was a 2 wheeler across challenging surfaces.

I would agree with this comment but love the 4 wheels over smooth surfaces.

my hard case samsonite (non curv) has lasted 10 RTW trips and counting

Interesting article.

Best travel bag: Avoid luggage with four wheels

I agree that I'm a fan of 2 wheels.

Good luck buying 2 wheel luggage these days!

I need to find something too eventually replace my Samsonite 2 wheeler, which has been dragged all over the world (quite literally, along all sorts of pavements) over the last five years and I will need to replace soon. But, apart from discount cheap imitation stuff, just don't see two wheelers for sale anywhere.

Likewise I treat my 4-wheeler as a 2-wheeler over rough surfaces, in and out of elevators, etc. A 4-wheeler is great for standing in long check-in queues: self-standing, you only need to nudge it forward as the line progresses. Only trouble is that on less than perfectly level surfaces they can quietly roll away!

We have a couple of Victorinox Traveller 5.0 24s that have survived several attempts by various airlines to destroy them - once a spinner wheel looked as if it had been pushed inwards and distorted (plus a tyre tread mark across the front of the case:shock:).

A firm punch on the inside of the case and it popped out back into place (and I can't tell which wheel it was anymore).

I agree that I'm a fan of 2 wheels.

I'm undecided on fabric vs plastic hard shell (but I didn't know about the cracking problem)

What about the aluminium hard shell option? I'd imagine lots of dents to come.

I agree with the comment on fabric bags. To me their big advantage is that they open from the top, not the middle. I may think differently if hotels provided a luggage rack big enough to take an open hard sided case.

The bearings finally went on my trusty 2 wheeler rollaboard in February.

I hit ebay and got a pair of new wheels for $20l they arrived in about a week. It took about 35 minutes to install them. :D

I have mixed feelings about spinners. While I appreciate the convenience in certain circumstances, in my experience they are absolutely awful to drag around on snowy/icy streets and over cobblestones, which spells trouble when travelling in many European cities. So I went back to an upright, and I'm still happy so far.

The spinners also make the bag taller compared to the recessed 2 wheelers. That can make quite a difference when placing a carry-on bag in the overhead locker "wheels first". With a spinner, you can end up needing a considerably smaller carry-on to make them fit that way.

I was sceptical about 4 wheel spinners when I had to replace, but finding anything in 2 wheels was not simple - and really not possible - so I took the plunge into 4. Like most, it gets treated as 2 wheel in a lot of circumstances.

Because of my skepticism, I looked carefully at wheel construction / attachment, and went for a Delsey set, where each wheel is a unit snaps into and is then screwed to a plate (4 of them - one to a corner), on the bottom of the case - and the 5 year warrantee. When the expected occurred, and one wheel was "airlined" (pushed off its bearing), I simply rang Delsey, and they mailed me 2 new wheels (there are left and right), and it took about 5 minutes to unscrew the old one, and replace.

same same with Samsonite hard shell.

I don't have an issue with the 4 wheels- the 2 halves are more of a hassle for my travel patterns

Travelpro?

For those who can't find them, you aren't looking hard enough.

Travelpro?
...
Sampsonite actually - my wife has some Travelpro that she got in Florida.

The wheels were aftermarket - it was amazing the first time I used the case a few weeks later how smooth it was and what I had been putting up with for a year and a half.
