What about HKG to FRA?

Easy enough?

Not to be antagonistic, but how about having a go at finding the availability and then telling us about it? You'll likely have to do it eventually anyway...

i am having difficulties in finding seats with cx to hkg from 19-22 dec

This:

This is hardly surprising! I'd guess these could be some of the busiest travel days of the year.

No that's a fair call. I was just looking for people's experience. That's all.

What about getting to the States?

What would be the easiest way to get there in J or F ?
US East Coast - via Europe
West Coast - via NRT on JAL as it seems to be the only way that does not exceed MPM. Unless you are really lucky and Qantas has seats available for your dates either to LAX or DFW

MPM is a potential issue for west coast USA via Asia (lax and sfo). ord, DFW, JFK should be ok via hkg.

Anyone had any luck with an open jaw and a stopover?
I'd love to get MEL-dxb-lhr-JFK//LAX-HKG-MEL.
I know that is stretching things so I could settle for MEL-dxb-lhr-JFK-yvr-HKG-MEL.
Game plan is all F either way except HKG-MEL in CX J.

As per the rules you can only have one open jaw OR one stopover.

I know what the rules are. That wasn't the question though.

It's one of the only rules that is pretty much 100% enforced these days, so I'm not sure why someone saying it has worked for them will be of any use. The rate desk will shut it down when it goes to ticketing.

I haven't heard of anyone - whether in the newer* Star Alliance era or new oneworld era - who has been able to get both a stopover and an open jaw. (Note that an "open jaw" resulting from using co-terminals does not count).

There have probably been at least one or two who have slipped through the cracks (and likely in the *A era), but of all the "rules" which can be "broken", having both a stopover and an open jaw has been the most unlikely to be broken.

* In one of the older incarnations of US DM, just when all of this 100% bonus miles purchase madness started, the rules did allow for a stopover and an open jaw.

I did actually under *A. I managed destination, two stopovers and open jaw. Yeah, I'm a lucky cough, I know. I just wondered if anyone has in the OW era. That clears things up though!

provided you had no stopovers your MEL-JFK//LAX-MEL would be ok. you are open jawing into JFK and out of LAX.

but you couldn't then have a stop in HKG.

When you say "stopover", these were both greater than 24 hours?

If you fly somewhere and the time between your arrival to next departure doesn't exceed 24 hours, that is not deemed a stopover, even if you leave the airport / enter the country, and/or arrival and next departure are on different calendar days.

If they were two bona fide stopovers, then yes you were one lucky cough, period.

See if anyone can find any seat for this . Mel-zag(stopover)-nyc(destination)-mel . Departing 20/09 give or take and then out of Zagreb on the 08/10 and then coming back from NYC on the 12/10.

You can't stopover in Zagreb. It's not a OneWorld hub neither it is a US Airways overseas destination - no stopover allowed
