US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Anyone else receive there Silver Preferred card in the mail? My first status on OW! :D

Am I missing something - how did this occur? Crediting other OW flights to USDM?

One day I just logged in and I was silver! I'm assuming the same thing happened to others.

On that note, silver gets unlimited upgrades on us airways flights? Is that right? "

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

pfft... USDM dun like me :(

I've bought over 2 million miles and have no preferred status.

which would have been ideal for all my flights on US metal.

oh wait....

I've bought maybe the same over time. Not sure why was upgraded but not going to complain.

It's better than poke in the eye. ..but not much more than that I think! Think it helps with checked baggage fees etc
I wasnt denying it gave you US benefits but then you have to fly US, I dont think it really gives much in the way of OW benefits (as per Mel_Travellers post)

but on the bright side it seems I've accrued AFF status :) (woo-hoo i can stop post padding!!!)

well - gives priority check-in. And theoretically access to 'preferred' seating (including free exit rows on CX which is a bit of a bonus!)

Hi All,

I did a search but I couldn't find the answer to the question of taxes if you cancel.
I understand the agent booking fee is non refundable - and the $150 you have to pay to get the points back, but if we cancel flights do we get a refund on the taxes? For us its about US$400 each, and my mum hasn't asked me to cancel but has said she needs someone with her once she starts chemo. I have emailed USDM as I don't feel like talking to them (they might cancel the ticket when all I want is information so I can make an informed decision). I am sorry if it is answered else where but I couldn't see it in the tread or on USAirways, unless they are including taxes in the booking fees and I just didn't understand that.

Thanks

Has anyone had difficulty calling USDM? I've tried to call many times, gotten through once, which then the agent hung up on me, however all other times they have said they are too busy because of the bad weather at US airports :( Im calling about 10pm NYC time.

yes - taxes are refunded - provided - when you ring to cancel you ask for your miles to be recredited to your account.

the US Airways homepage currently has a weather advisory warning. In times like this is can be hit and miss... most of the time it's pretty hard to get through, although the odd call you'll be lucky :)

10pm New York time is still much earlier on the west coast USA. Still lots of folks travelling.

Yes I intend to give this theoretical "'preferred'" seating a try next time I have an opportunity to see if it's real.

The only real big bonuses I find with oneworld Ruby are Priority Check-in (Business if no dedicated counter), free baggage allowance on US and AA in Y and some preferred seating.

Of course, if you don't end up flying Y at any time, then big whoop.
