US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

l've purchased about 650k miles and I got Silver status (OW Ruby).

The only real big bonuses I find with oneworld Ruby are Priority Check-in (Business if no dedicated counter), free baggage allowance on US and AA in Y and some preferred seating.

Of course, if you don't end up flying Y at any time, then big whoop.

Yes, I have not received my card but not that concerned about chasing it.

I've tried calling numerous times this week and not got through. Thinking about buying the Dividend miles promotion but reconsidering if I can't even use it. Are there other ways of contacting to book award flights??
the US Airways homepage currently has a weather advisory warning. In times like this is can be hit and miss... most of the time it's pretty hard to get through, although the odd call you'll be lucky :)

10pm New York time is still much earlier on the west coast USA. Still lots of folks travelling.

weather advisories happen from time to time. some of them last several days. Not a lot we can do when that's the case.

99 per cent of the time there are absolutely no problems reaching USDM, and most calls (depending the time you call) are answered within a minute or two.

Thanks Mel_Traveller. Is the reservations line available 24 hrs and also is there an ideal time to call? I'm from Sydney and I'm up all hours of the day/night:)

I usually call in the evening east coast AU time.

If i have something easy to do like just paying for an itinerary on hold, or accepting a schedule change, any time is fine (in terms of the competence of the agents, just hold time might be longer)

Just out of curiosity how easy are people finding cx or qf availability in j out of syd up to hkg? And from hkg in j to Frankfurt or other euro hubs?

Anyone got any ideas on how to get to Fiji from Melbourne. I have a wedding to go to and I am struggling to get a valid route. Jetstar fly there but they aren't part of Oneworld. Fiji Airlines also fly there but they aren't part of OW. Any ideas? I can't seem to find any OW airlines that fly there. Can anyone advise me otherwise. Thanks for your help

I don't think you can. Qantas codeshares with FJ on Australia-Fiji routes but I'm pretty sure you can't use a codeshare service

Is Fiji an american airlines partner?... I thought they were but could be wrong.

Bump. Any experiences?

are you a member of qantas frequent flyer? that's a good way to get a rough indication of availability.

if you can find flights on the qantas award system (logging in as a bronze, not a platinum who might have additional availability) they should be bookable via US airways.

Does anyone know if the new F TG have installed in their 747s (i.e. the sort of Suites) allow for someone to join you for dining like the old 747 F seats did? That was really neat.
