Re: Change of Award Cabin - Before travel starts - ? Possible on partner airlines

BNE to have TG 77W replaced with 773 (non full flat J) on many days in Jul / Aug.

Awkward grammar, much? You been speaking too much to Thai? :p

FWIW my sister had her flight at the end of Feb from BKK-BNE originally pitched for a TG 77W with new full flat J product. I even selected her seat for her. When she flew it, however, it was subbed out for an older 777 with angle flat product. She didn't mind, but I guess goes to show we don't expect too much from TG, especially on the not so big ticket routes.

Re: Change of Award Cabin - Before travel starts - ? Possible on partner airlines

Thai are pretty hopeless at the moment. I think the political crisis is playing havoc with their loads. They have been switching aircraft all over the place, I am guessing with a lot of the bigger ones staying stationary at BKK. It must be a PIA being a marketing person for them though as there is no way they can advertise the product (which is probably why they haven't got it online on their website at all).

Oh...and apparently I ordered a Vegetarian Hindu meal all of a sudden! WTF???

So my barbecue pork with noodles has once again turned into vegetarian hindu in TG's system!

All my choices turned to vege hindu as well. I wondered if it was because I tried to book it too early and though I'd wait till 2 weeks out. Anyone experiences from people making food choices closer to the dep date?

vegetarian hindu is the default on the manage booking page... only because there is no option on the drop down menu for book the cook.

if you click on the link at the end of the page 'pre-order meal' (appears under the MMB section) it lists special meals that you might have ordered.

Yes, thanks found that Ok, but it goes to a link that wasn't available any more. Maybe I'll start again and see how that goes.

Except I ordered BBQ Pork...and when I called TG Res in Australia today she told me I have 'Indian Vegetarian'. So assuming she is looking at more of a backend system I doubt the actual choice will stick.

agreed... but the actual 'pre-order meal' section of the TG site is showing what?

the home page for MMB is defaulting to hinu vegetarian for all our bookings, but the specific meal order page is showing the right one.

the MMB page just doesn't have a 'book the cook' line from the drop down menu. it has to default to something?

It says 404 Not Found...or...Sorry, The system is unavilable!

It never used to show 'Vegetarian Hindu'...I recall it simply showing something like Special Meal but I agree they couldn't have that in the drop down as that means nothing.

The key point is though, it's not a front end issue with the website...selecting a TG pre order meal appears to be leading to Indian Vegetarian in the back end...so that's what you'll be getting!

well... my folks are flying in two weeks. We'll see what they end up with :) (only BKK-SIN so won't be the end of the world)

Hi all, I bought 100k USDM on somewhat of a whim with the recent 100% mystery bonus with the intention of potentially getting 2xJ one-way from West Coast US to either a SE Asian port or Perth if possible. I had incorrectly assumed oneway = 0.5 return award booking, like LM but alas I did not do my research and now I'm sitting here with the points unsure what to do.

I'm interested to know if anyone has any interesting ideas, I was considering doing GUM-xAsia-PER, with a throwaway return, but as it turns out getting revenue to GUM from the US isn't cheap either, so may have to forgo using them for that trip.

So if all else fails, I would be happy burning as a return PER to GUM, via Asia... would this be possible at the same 30k rate or would I have to position myself from the East Coast?

but using Lifemiles to get from USA to GUM is very cheap :) as low as 10K in coach or 20K in business (domestic first class) plus a few hundred dollars co-pay.

Thanks for the heads up, had a look on LM and the cost is 12.5k LAX-GUM, which is pretty reasonable although I do not currently have LM miles so would have to buy them at 1:1. Also checked out HNL-GUM, which is 20k

Beginning to think it may be worth using them as a return for a separate trip as better value, but this decision is clouded by my understanding that with the exiting of *A, the GUM option may not be possible?
