US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

So I think I've got to the bottom of the vegetarian pork issue.

The problem occurs when you do a seat assignment change...at the same time it overwrites any pre-order meal with AVML (asian vege).

So if you want your pre-order meal...do your seat assignments FIRST...and then use the pre-order meal function - then leave the seat assignment alone!

soooo... if thats the case (seats were changed because of equipment change)... what should the MMB page show for meal choice in place of hindu?

All my choices turned to vege hindu as well. I wondered if it was because I tried to book it too early and though I'd wait till 2 weeks out. Anyone experiences from people making food choices closer to the dep date?

I fly in a bit over 4hrs time and last night around 8pm I checked and saw my first flight had defaulted to vegetarian hindu, I then changed it there and there back to no meal selection, so we'll see if I get the hindu meal or not ;)

Well that's the problem...it has nothing to show, so selects AVML...but when you save your seat assignment, it also saves the AVML.

I emailed melbourne@thaiairways and they sent me back a list of all the changes that have happened, carefully pointing out that everything was done 'via the web'...i.e. you did it!

I noticed that the most recent change to AVML occured when all I thought I did was a seat assignment.

so I'm looking at three things...

main MMB page says 'special meal'

when I hit 'modufy' the next page shows 'hindu vegetarian'

then the link at the end of that page says 'first or business class pre-order' - clicking that link takes me to the special prawn meals I have reserved.

Interesting, have you let them know of the bug? The have probably seen a massive spike in the amount of people ordering the Hindu Vego Meal, quite funny really. At least in business and first you can still select off the main menu.

report from my folks yesterday - TG food to BKK was 'mediocre' at best - and a noticeable downgrade from the year before.

Egyptair however - they raved about it! Food was good and the service was outstanding with the crew offering to take them around Cairo.

I suspect a bit of it might have been to do with 'little old aged pensioners' on the flight (them) but they said with a full flat bed (not even slightly angled as some of the trip reports show) and outstanding service (which included being given large 2 litre bottles of water each so they didn't have to leave their hotel room for a day) they would be more than happy to take MS all the way to Europe in future. (they said TG F is obviously slightly better because of the F food and beverage offerings... but they said the MS service was really outstanding for a business class product).

It's a (relative) respite coming here from the Heads Up thread !

More fun & joy here, for sure.

So they actually called me up and we walked through it...they can see what the problem is now and have said they'll pass it on to HQ.

She told me to enjoy by BBQ pork...and that I deserve it! Haha.

At end of the day is it worth BTC on TG?

I actually like the BBQ pork. Bearing in mind that it's just, well, BBQ Pork + 2 minute noodles! But I'll take it over the standard breakfast fare on my flight.

I've had no issues with the meals I've BTC'd, enjoyed my lobster - so I'd do it unless you want to take pot luck (a thai curry of some sort, normally decent enough) on the day! :D

I reckon it is if you like Thai food. I always pre order even in Business Class, but only the Thai dishes. You can always select off the main menu if you don't like it so I don't think you are really missing out on much, more giving yourself more options.

Just wondering...

Do you guys think it possible to "accidently miss" your Guam connections say for instance at your layover on they way to Guam then just 'stay' and catch your connection back to Australia on the way home...
