Hi Smit,

LOL try moving my wife back a class and I would lose body parts that I happen to like:) My choice would be me in J her in F there and back:) So might as well save my points and try to get us all in J:)

With Thai I have had it work a few times where I have put 2 seats on hold in Business Class, waited maybe half an hour or up to a day and they will have released another 2 seats, so then call back up and lock in the 4 seats.

I've done a variation on that on TG flights where there are F and J cabins:

- book 2 F and 2 J on the same flight (ie taking all available award seats)

- then wait to see if 2 more F appear, if they do change the J to F booking (usually you have to pay a fee of $150 per pax to do this)

We're off to Europe in June and using this strategy I got four of us in F on 3 of the 4 legs with the other leg being 2F and 2J.

What about 2 in F and 2 in J? You could swap on the return trip?

From what I have read on FT the TG purser may allow one seat swop during a flight if its all members of a family group and if you ask nicely. So for our leg where we are split F and J its me + young son in F and wife + younger daughter in J (funny how it turned out that way :) ). I suppose I should tell my wife that it would be possible for us to ask to swop seats during the flight.

hmmm - you could always just give your seat on boarding :)

Well its happening again. Here we are in the business class lounge at Perth airport thanks to good ol US Airways. Off to New York this time via Bangkok and Soeul. Home via Frankfurt and Bangkok. Looking forward to seeing what the Asiana J product is like and especially looking forward to the Korean cuisine. Unfortunately becoause of the jetstreams our transpacific routing will not be over the north pole but south towards Japan and then over the pacific. No Champagne in the Qantas lounge just bubbles but the price right. 110,000 points in total :-)

Come on Spud where is your trip report lol. Better still... please do a trip report as we would love to see it :)

Now in Monroe LA.... after flying on this US award ticket SYD-BKK-ICN-SFO-ORD

Ended up with an a/c substitution on the ICN-SFO.. no Quadra Smrta$$ for us this time... but the OZ service went a long way to making up for it.. A good flight nonetheless..

Slumber rooms at TG lounge in BKK helped with the layover there.. Dayroom in ICN was an excellent idea.

Amazing value these trips.. as everyone on THIS thread already knows!

Fingers crossed that the scheduled flat beds home will remain!

P.S. Best rental car upgrade ever here in the South... booked a "Pontiac G6 or equiv" through Argus (National being the supplier) and got given a Dodge Ram 1500... That'll help us fit in!

Must be the time of the year, my wife and I are also of to New York via Seould (and back via Toronto this weeknd care of US Air miles flying OZ/UA/AC. I lived in Korea for 3 months once, food is good so am also looking forward to the OZ leg. Air Canada too I think will be nice from what I have seen of their product.

Just a quick question - I don't need seat availability or anything as I am just over 30000 points but I am trying to plan ahead. Is there any problem with the trying to do the following:

BNE – BKK – ICN – JFK (destination)
JFK – FRN/CPH (STOP)– BKK/SIN - BNE

The cities with two codes I don't really care which one I stop in or fly in/out off- I am just hopeful that FRN/CPH are hubs (if I have done my research correct!!)

Thanks heaps

that should be fine.

Just sitting in the Denver AA Admiral's Club as I have just about finished the US/Mexico leg of my trip, fly out on Monday to start the European leg... That business class flight did make the 40 hours of travel getting from PER-MIA survivable... :)

Ok now I am worried, there doesnt seem to be any Thai availability BKK-FRA in April or May next year at all in J:( Does this mean that Thai has clamped down on award travel as well as SIA?)

Has anyone received their 25,000 bonus points from points.com from the last promotion yet? I know it said by the 1st of June but surly wont all post on same day??

No it means TG is being slow to release award inventory for the summer schedule...happens every year...same with the winter schedule.

Thats reassuring BC, when do you think that they will release inventory? I am heading off in April and I can see heaps in economy just nothing in Business.

I didn't buy any points however if you are on FB and have looked at Points.com's wall, they did say that points will be definitely awarded in June [this was after a large number of wall posts flooding their FB page and was taking "too" much of their social media time].

Has anyone had any success in making a change without the $150 change fee after ticketing but before departure? In hindsight I would have changed a connection (same day / date / airline) but it's not worth $150 to me.
