Have to say that OZ catering is fantastic. They have the best steak in the sky. NZ is also pretty good. SQ is not as good, but still much better than TG. Of course I haven't tried European/NAmerican J/F yet, so the bar can be even lower.

Cheers for the feedback.

Since this was my first ever F flight, l will have to get back to you with some data points soon ;)
Would have to agree, the food wasn't out of this world, but it wasn't cough either. The Caviar and DOM was certainly nice.

I'm looking at going to the USA either at the end of this year or early next year. I will try another airline (for the SYD-Asia sector), depending on availability of course and will also try to get OZ or SQ, fingers crossed.

Oh well, you are ahead of me then! I have "only" flown J for the last few years and not F. Then again I haven't really used US DM for redemption before, but used BMI/SQ/VS programs for redemptions. Personally apart from "flatter" seats, it is not that much difference as finer cuisines and better alcohol doesn't really attract me that much.

Just bought my 100% bonus and noticed the price has gone up. It still makes F/J cheap but I don't recall seeing anything about in this thread. And did we always pay the tax and charges? My old brain hurts ;-)

Works out to cost 2c/mile for the bonus miles which isn't as good as the 1.75c/mile on the 100% bonus promo.

How does this share miles thing work? Can another person and I share miles to each other?

price has been 3.5c plus 7.5% 'gst' tax for ages. Then taxes on top plus $50 booking fee.

This is half as good as the June offer bonus so my 2 sons have time to wait.
if you need to wrap up the points now then yes do the buy in for each of you.
Then you can go redeeming sooner rather than later.

Yes. But as I mentioned, the cost per mile isn't as good as the 100% bonus on buying. If you can wait, I would wait.

He will have to fly via BKK if he wants to leave from Sydney - there is no way to get to Perth on *A.

My friend has just managed to booked SYD-GRU. The inbound route is: GRU-JNB-PER-AKL-SYD.

This routing also appears in Aeroplan when you plug in GRU-SYD.

Thanks, cove and ferni, for your replies. OK, we will wait for another 100% bonus then.

Hi,
Has anyone ever abandoned a leg of the journey, and then resumed the rest of the journey at the next leg.
Do you know what happens?

what if: SYD-ZRH (stopover)-PARIS-(abandoned flight)-LHR(destination)-SYD.
The Paris to London flight is in the itinerary, but not taken, and trip resumes with LHR-SYD.

thanks

Not 1/2 as good surely, I calculate normal price (with 100% bonus - you can see I've become inured enough that I think the 100% bonus is near enough to "normal") at about 1.88c/mile and this is about 2.15?

It would cancel the rest of the itinerary.

in 99% of cases (there are some airlines with some exceptions) a missed leg will see all remaining legs cancelled without the possibility to reinstate them. the only get might be if your flight was on BD and that is no longer star alliance... they might (big might) release you, but since it would involve a reissue of the ticket I would think that is close to zero probability if you have already commenced travel.

thanks for your help.
Would certainly be caught up the **** creek without any paddles at the airport.

This is a pretty ridiculous routing when you could just fly GRU-SCL/EZE-SYD on other carriers - there's a fair bit of backtracking to go from PER to SYD via AKL!!

Let me correct my earlier statement by saying 'no direct ways to get to Perth on *A'

On review, SYD-BKK-JNB on TG may be quicker than SYD-AKL-PER-JNB on NZ/SA, despite the extra continent of Asia.

Direct Sth America - Oceania is not possible With *Alliance, via Nth America is usual routing. J availability Across the pacific direct is very hard to come by, hence the scenic route from GRU.
