now to get my points or money back.
Not going to happen. Face it - for all your wheeler dealing, scamming, fraud and treating airline (and other forum members and customs officers and...) employees like cough - you basically got owned by US Airways! Good for them for deciding enough is enough.

Already got one lot of $1890 back thanks for your help ;)
Ha...I could've predicted you'd say you suddenly had some success! VERY, very predictable.

As I said at the time though, it's probably fair enough for you to be refunded any miles purchases around about the time your fraud was detected. As for the 800k miles though...bye bye.

Yeah it's strange they refunded one amount quickly with Citibank but the others haven't came thru yet . Also I purchased some on my 28 degrees and nothing came back yet .

If I look at it this way the HNL trip should have cost me 110k each and I paid 30k so theres what 150k and they still didn't cancel it . I think once its ticketed even at the incorrect mileage it's against DOT to cancel the ticket or charge the higher amount . Or the audit department doesn't know that a syd - lax - HNL costs 110k and not 30k

I can screen shot the refund if required :)

Question.
I'm helping with a friends booking.
2 pax, J or F, Aug/Sep 2013.
PER - Asia - London (stop, 1 month) - Canada (destination ~10 days) and return (any route).

So far, have found this;

Safari%204.jpg

Pretty good so far, but am really trying to help them achieve pure F or J the whole trip.

  • Any tips on getting from LHR-Canada in F or J?
  • Could l route through the USA(easier)?
  • When does AC release seats to US Dividend Miles?
  • The trip isn't till Aug/Sep 2013, so there is still plenty of time.

Cheers in advance

I would probably put in an extra sector on the outbound from London and route something like LHR-IAD-YYZ. UA F is generally ok for availability on those routes. And the same on the return - YYZ-IAD-FRA-BKK. UA F beats AC business.

As for lhr as a stop in a non-hub city... give it a go. Its a US gateway so they might be ok with it under that condition (although that doesn't strictly apply to partner awards)

Alternatively, route via ICN and take advantage of OZ F. (Although that would leave ICN-BKK/SIN-PER in business, but if you could route via SIN on SQ business that would be fine)

How will the MPM go considering its from Perth to East Coast with Canada included?
I am trying to get to Joberg from Perth via Egypt next year in C. Any suggestions on route? I am having trouble trying to get SAA business Perth to Joberg on way out then hoping to get to Cairo-Bkk-Perth.

Thanks for all the replies, and Mel, will look into UA F.

PER-JNB seems to have completely dried up. My wife and I booked 2 J seats each way for a week there in March next year, but they were almost the only available J seats on ANA tool for the entire year. Even searching for a single seat only yielded one or two flights for 2013 available. Maybe SAA will release more, but when we booked those seats about 6 weeks ago there was pretty much nothing.

UA f ain't the prettiest girl at the party... but the seat is accepted as being one of the most comfortable out there (if lacking the bells and whistles of suites). their catering is supposed to be tasty, if not you're regular cafeteria style in terms of presentation and service. cabin crew, well... you might just strike it lucky and get a good set. but all of that combined its still streaks ahead of anything air Canada can offer in it's business class.

Just letting you guys know I received a letter today from 28 degrees with a success of my disputed claims against us airways . I'm not sure if I received all my money back but most of it . I did lose the flights that I booked tho but great news for us all . I also received my funds back from Citibank a while ago . There was a few charges that weren't approved because it was outside the 3 month charge back period.

merry
christmas .

A question about the stopover rule:

I know that stopovers (viz. the single "en route" stopover allowed per itinerary) must be at Star Alliance hubs (and inbound via a carrier which is hubbed at that stopover point), but does anyone have any exception experiences?

I'm thinking about my folks and their Euro stop before North America. They want to join a tour in Europe, but most (read: all) of the tours they are interested in start in London. It really only leaves me a couple of options:
  • Try for a stopover in London. Pros: no extra schlepping around (my folks are over 60 years old). Cons: APD to be paid once leaving the UK; could be impossible due to US DM rules.
  • Stopover in BRU with inbound on SN, then connect to London via Eurostar return ticket. Pros: fits the US DM stopover rules; no APD. Cons: a bit of a "round about" required; need to get cheap Eurostar fares BRU/LON, otherwise may as well try for LON and pay the APD (the APD applicable for UK -> USA in standard rate is GBP 130).
  • Try for stopover in Paris. Pros: Since best availability of TG F is into CDG, this works even better than BRU. Cons: Still requires finding a cheap Eurostar return ticket (+ some EUR 20 or so for RER to/from CDG to Gare du Nord) that is not more expensive than the APD; still not kosher stopover according to US DM rules.

I've vaguely heard that some people have gotten away with non-*A hubs as stopovers possibly because they are "gateway cities" or the like, or some have just been plain lucky, period.

Anyone have anything to throw in on this? Cheers!

Should check MPM too, and whether routing via Europe is OK especially since you are ex BNE (I assume). Apparently USDM have been a little stricter on this recently...

Yes I did hear that MPM is being enforced a bit more recently. I can start from SYD or MEL instead.... shouldn't make tons of difference. *sigh* Might be hard telling the folks that USA via Europe may not be possible.

From what I understand, PER is probably the only place in Australia where you can go via Europe / Asia without MPM issues... I guess you only will really know if you check with the call centre!

Member here tried to ticket PER-NYC via Europe with no success... but I think the agent might have stuffed up their geography a bit.

If the MPM ex-East Coast to East USA at 25M level is around 14.4k miles, it might be manageable... there will be some scraping in for sure, and luck needed.

And I need to sign up for a E/F or KVS subscription..........

Has anyone noticed that there are no TG awards showing after 26th October 2013 (i'm looking in ANA tool)?

I thought they normally show up 330 days in advance which would be mid November?

TG can be a bit tardy with this. And I think this comes up twice a year... for end of March and end of Oct travel dates.
