TG can be a bit tardy with this. And I think this comes up twice a year... for end of March and end of Oct travel dates.

Ahhh ok hadn't noticed before, thanks for that. So best to just keep checking?

This thread is getting way too big. I need to start with the stupid questions very soon so hoping to get some help.

I stay away from Flyertalk as much as possible. Not even going to attempt to ask questions there as people love jumping down your throat....

I thought you would bring out the bells and whistles with my funds returned to me. If you check ebay someone who knows about US dm posted a listing there for cheap *A flights . I would put my money I got back its someone who reads this thread. OFTEN!

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

Hope they declare the income to the ATO and have a travel agents licence, otherwise their future might be a little expensive!

Those are issues, but i would be more concerned - if this is a USDM re-sale - that the account could be closed and audited any time up until departure. If you sold these tickets for $8600 in total then you'd really need to keep that money aside for up to 11 months in case the tickets are cancelled and you had to refund. (Actually they offer refund anyway - so this could be a profit of $50 per ticket after 9 months.) Seems like a lot of stress for the few thousand potential profit.

Personally I think if you have a specific question on a specific issue you should start a new thread, there is a lot of info here we would ideally have in seperate threads.

not really. the basics are outlined in the membership guide. Plus you can't redeem on LH/LX F, SQ premium long haul, and certain other flights that USDM may or may not see depending on the way the wind is blowing. And now we have enforcement of MPM. I guess if there had been separate threads on each of those it would have cut the number of posts ten-fold.

And possibly more importantly for many of us would mean we have seperate threads to look through rather than one with now 3570 posts and a fair bit of (multiplies of) repeated information.

As part of setting up some flight award alerts on EF, I just searched ZRH-BKK on LX in F for late August 2013. To my surprise, it showed one F seat available. I re-searched the same via AwardTravelr, which showed no seats available. Only at this point did I notice the warning on EF saying:

SWISS Award availability reflects availability for Miles & More members. Availability to members of partner airlines may be less.

Based on this, is it safe to assume the LX F award seat that EF is showing me will not be bookable via USDM?

indeed. assume no award availability on LH/LX. but try anyway.

I am - just setup a whole bunch of EF award seat alerts for LH F FRA-(Asia) in case they open some up at the last minute for the Aug 2013 trip I just booked :)
US has just updated the footnotes of the award chart to note that from Jan 1 2013 (yeah, right!) LH F redemption is no longer available.

thankfully I just scraped in my last few LH f redemptions on New Year's Eve. now I understand why the agent was saying I was lucky to get them just in time!

Any idea when the next special will be to purchase cheap miles? Unfortunately didnt have an account when the last one ended.

Your guess is as good as any. Fingers crossed that it happens very soon.

WRT to your comment about wanting to fly PER-JFK, buying points at full price, business class is 110k return, thus being 110 x US$35 x 1.075 = ~$4138 + taxes (~$200).

If you are happy with that price, then I would call US and see if they have space availability, and whether you can place them on a 72hr hold, then buy the points at full price.

I thought you were limited to buying 50,000 miles? Or was that just a limitation on the amount of bonus miles you could receive during a promo?
