Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Technically, no - however it has been known to happen .. but don't rely on it.
Thanks for the info, I think my question may not have been clear, the answer may well be the same, but for the sake of clarity.

Can I gift miles into an account that is less than 12 days old and have the bonus miles appear in that account?

The answer is still the same I believe!

picture think some people have, but it's technically not allowed. I wouldn't want USDM to audit the account.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I've read about 150 pages, including some very amusing posts around November last year!

hoping for some help please...

will have 2 people travelling, accounts both just set up so may miss the current promo but no great rush.

q's

1. syd-sin-bom-sin-syd on SQ J is 90k per person? And I could do a stopover in singapore either on the way over, or on the way back? And this is because SIN is a hub city of a *A partner?

Assuming a 100% promo this would cost approx. USD$1750 + 7.5% tax? Vs a cash cost of $6k+ booking with SQ directly?

2. alternatively I could do syd-bkk-bom-bkk-Syd On TG F for the syd-bkk and vv leg, but J for bkk-bom, will still be charged as if F? so 120k total? As above I could stopover in BKK?

if I had to top up the 20k at full price this would be an additional us$700 plus tax?

3. Could I do a mix and match? I.e. to Bombay on SQ and home on TG? And choose to do a stopover in either Singapore or Bangkok?

I'm guessing many of you would see this as a poor value redemption but it seems pretty straight forward and I think I get the general gist so would be happy purchasing miles at the bonus rate to do this.

also not too fussed about if the miles convert to AA so that 'risk' for me is removed.

cheers

SYD-SIN would be difficult... I don't think any SQ flights ex SYD have the regional Biz product (??) and you cannot get the 77W/A380 seats through USDM... ex BNE or MEL should be doable...

Yes.. ANY segment in F puts the whole award as "F"...

I *think* they have one flight a day with the regional 777-300 product that would be available? It's 2 x A380, 1 x 77W and 1 x 777-300 each day isn't it?

If you can get that SYD-SIN-BOM and back should be no problem - a pretty straight-forward award.

SQ Syd-SIN definitely have the 77A New regional J which you can redeem using USDM miles. It is very acceptable for day flights.

Slightly off topic, but recently managed to book a lifemiles redemption SIN to SYD on the A380. I thought the same rules would apply to USDM as LM?

If so was it pure good luck or do I run a risk of the ticket being canceled ?

LM appears to have some special SQ availability...I don't think anyone knows why but it's been around for ages now.

SQ241/2 will at some time this year be upgraded to a refitted 772ER...so it could make a good speculative booking now. One of the BOM flights already has been upgraded but I don't know if that means there is zero availability or if US is smart enough (I highly doubt it) to realise that it might need to add some 772ERs to its banned list.

Whilst this may be true, I actually prefer New Regional J for day flights as the seats are very comfortable and not too wide.

Same as VA A330 J yes? I found that perfect for day flights.. and agree the SQ J is a little wide.

I was on the phone to USDM earlier this afternoon ~5pm, managed to choose my flights syd-bkk-lhr//cdg-bkk-syd and was at the phase of letting them know my passport details ..... and then our line cut out. I re-called USDM and was unable to get back to the original agent and the new agent could not see any existing booking, so had to start afresh. As I was waiting to speak to an agent I was online at ANA and all the original seats were no longer available - and the new agent found no available seats. Anyway... my question is, those seats that I originally wanted, given that the booking was ticketed yet ..... is there are chance that it may become available again? if so, how long? thanks :)

Bingo. The New VA A330J.

I have tried both SQ superwide and new regional J seats and love both for different reasons. The New Regional J is a great product for medium haul flights.

My guess is that these seats are On hold. So after 5 days they may be released back to the pool ....

And FJ as well as MH. I like them as well being ex BNE but not that impressed for night flights/ sleeping, I have also observed the color scheme with SQ tends to make them look pretty tarnished after a while, a recent flight I had I was surprised to see the rego indicated a 18 month bird as the cabin looked about 5 years old at least. #firstworldproblems :)

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Sorry, i was hoping someone will be able to help me out on this one. Does anyone know how much points are required for the following flight in business.

Mel-BKK(stopover)-SGN(stopover)-HKG (stopover)-BKK-MEL

Do you know if I am able to redeem the above route for 90K in business??

It's not an allowed routing - you can have ONE stopover in addition to your destination per return itinerary.

And is there a *A service between SGN & HKG?
