Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

And isn't the USDM deal for the pacific better than AA, with AA being 20k/30k Y/J one way while USDM is 25k/30k return??? Even if you just take South Pacific as being NZ travel mostly, and so included in the Aust/NZ whole country thing, its still 10k/17.5k one way which is still slightly less and slightly more in Y and J than the USDM chart??

The only proviso being that of late it seems like Air NZ J has been a bit non existant and with QF you might have a bit more direct connection to some Pacific islands than having to route through NZ...

20k in whY and 35k in J with AA (return).

It's only 10k extra innit?? 150k vs 80k + 80k?

Ah, yes, but can you do stopovers on AA.

Is there a master list of countries/airports/cities that are zones as South Pacific? Any that carriers other than QF fly to?

yes - the advantage award chart lists the zones at the very end of the page under 'zone definitions'.

Maybe some useful info here:

Air Pacific | milevalue.com

Not that I find the prospect of Air Pacific very tantalising!

Just had a look at the Oneworld map, don't seem to be many dots as available destinations in the South Pacific!

What if you add in Air Pacific and Air Tahiti Nui?

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I'm not too hopeful with QF F awards but looking ahead, hopefully MH will fill the shoes of TG by releasing good availability, and they also fly A380's to a few select destinations. I know BA will have some decent availability, also ex-HKG with A380's but with some pricey surcharges added on top. CX will be fun too, if its possible to do fly SYD-xHKG-JFK or even SYD-xHKG-xYVR-JFK now that would be cool :) :)

As you can see, I am 'an A380 fanboi' and will try to get on that plane over any other plane any time :)

the CX routing would require 2 awards as far as I'm aware, making it 'expensive' on the AA chart, but still cheaper than flying QF.

As for the A380 - I am not fussed either way. I have clocked up several flights now and can't really notice any difference except for the SQ suites. Upper deck F? pffft! It's rubbish (although i haven't tried LH F on the A380 yet).

Plenty of chat regarding BA surcharges - any idea what figures you would encounter?

Well Papeete is on the list already (and doesn't seem any easier to get than NZ) and Air Pathetic gives you Nadi and a couple of places from there but once again nowhere NZ doesn't get you to and no way to get to Rarotonga for example. Still not seeing what is so much greater (though I can see the attraction ex PER).

You can play with dummy BA award bookings online to get an idea.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

USDM newbie question- what's the difference between sharing a mile vs gifting one?

Gift = buy miles but instead of going into your account, miles go to someone else's account
Share = miles come FROM your account and going to someone else's account

sharing a mile comes out of your account and goes to theirs. (have 100K in your account and share 50K, both of you end up with 50K)

gifting means you buy them a mile - they get it but not you. (have 100K in your account and gift someone 50K, you have 100K they have 50K)

sharinf og miles is cheap, but you have already paid for them by purchasing them once already.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I think this thread (or the other one) needs a little clean up by the Mods.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Does anyone know if it's possible to receive the 100% bonus into an account that is less than 12 days old?

I have a relative that has already set up an account for herself, so she can buy miles and get the bonus, but she'd also like to travel with a friend who has not yet set up an account. So can she gift miles into a new account and have that new account receive the bonus?

Technically, no - however it has been known to happen .. but don't rely on it.
