I'm still waiting for a sale to get the in-laws over in F. I'm waiting for MEL-TRAVELLER to report
Back with the miles multiplier trick ;)

hmmm... don't wait for me! I'm set with enough miles for next couple of years. we'll have to see what happens after that. the biggest concern I. have is if US decides to go down the path of bmi diamond club and start collecting fuel surcharges... they're huge and ifntheynstart to become anything life lufthansa... many award tickets are not worth having because the fuel charge is higher than an economy ticket...

Yeah, with the uncertainty of them changing redemption rules and perhaps imposing new surcharges and taxes I am not sure if I will ever hold much more than one trips total in my account at any time... I'd say 200k would be the max...

Blame it on this thread. Everytime I see new posts I get excited and click on it for some useful advice only to find the same saga 6 months later and no end in sight.

Well the real exciting stuff is in the successful awards thread...

I guess this stuff may be a bit Days of our lives now and then, but still not every thread can be champagne posting the whole time... :p

Suprised there running it again to be honest... more expensive than last few promotions.

Will probably give it a miss.. or ask for miles as presents for Christmas :D

And just to advise for anyone who is jumping in to buying miles right now, the promo has not started yet.

I must have missed something. Is this confirmed from US Airways? Where did you hear this? I have 200K sitting at the bank collecting dust at the moment.

I think this is the first time I've seen them advertise a buy/share/gift promo in advance...probably someone in IT jumped the gun!

Nothing has been announced...these things are just always a possibility.

No nothing has been announced, but i posted a link to a site that showed a bunch of other star alliance carriers had started increasing/imposing fuel surcharges recently, still a fair few who don't including US Air and hopefully the competition in the US will keep it that way, but with more people finding out about the programs and more miles being given away on Grand Slam comps and bonus offers it stands to reason eventually it could mean either an increase in mile requirements for awards or some partner carriers close off access...

In such situations i think i will just limit myself to how many points i will have in the account at any given time... I might buy up close to another 100,000 with this current 100% bonus promo, which would then give me 200,000 in the kitty...

Capped at 40k ? I wonder if we can still use the gift registry for the work around I need to buy 150k and get 150k bonus for two F tickets

Yeah i was going to use the gift registry i set up last time but didn't take advantage of before the price per mile went up (Doh!!!) :(

Have to check and see what the date was for whatever event i said the registry was being set up before, they might not except gifts to something that was already suppose to have happened... ;)

Gifting doesn't appear to be part of this promo however - whereas the last one was 100% buy AND gift. Not sure a gift registry is much use this time around.

What do you mean not confirmed, the linked page is the US Airways site! How much confirmation do you need!

I'll be buying I think, personally I think the fact they have increased the buy rates means they are less likely to change the redemption rate. With the 38K I have from the GS and extra 80K takes me very close to that Europe J flight and I think this is probably as good as we will get now apart from possible sharing bonuses. Still a good deal, just not quite as good as it used to be.
