Managed to get an agent willing to put in the routing I want, all went smoothly until she tried to ticket it and said can't do it because of MPM. Should I try another agent again? I've got the route on hold at least so it's safe until tomorrow.

Try again, but don't be entirely surprised if it is a futile effort.

What about going via SIN rather than MNL? Or KUL? Or AKL?

MPM really seems to be back in fashion again with US agents!

alas I end up with SYD-HKG in Y. Besides quoted less miles than expected, I'd have more time in HKG and really don't want to spend half my weekend on the phone so ticketed it right there and then. Route is definitely over the MPM so we know (at least for now) that MPM rule is enforced by agents and not the system. The last agent said that the problem with ticketing my other route is due to backtracking although I would think that SFO-HKG-SYD would fall in that category too?

A brain bubble

Could you combine USDM OW and one / two remaining *A partners ????

Have anyone tried ?

I am entertaining that thought at the moment.

? Worth a phone call

No - it's definitely not allowed.

Last week on US redemption on *alliance i had one economy sector on my F redemption due to no availability when i booked. When i got to ICN i asked at the ticket counter, not checkin, if a J seat had become available and they said yes. So ask away when you get the the airport cause its free to.

You are correct.

I was on the phone last night talking to an agent.

You can combine US Airways with the remaining *A partners but you can NOT combine *A and OW partners.

My thought bubble had now been extinguished.

Just made my first award booking. How do I know when my booking has been ticketed? Will I receive an email with the ticket on it?

After trying 3 different credit cards the agent said it wouldn't ticket (she said there was an address mismatch with the second card). She said to call back later to confirm if it has.

My booking on USairways.com says Active and they've taken the miles from my account (twice actually so need to sort that out separately) and there is a purchase authorisation for the taxes amount on my credit card.

ticketing occurs once you have a ticket number.

while USDM says they will send you an email, they often don't.

easiest way to see if there is a ticket number is to go into the booking via your USDM account, and right at the bottom by the $$ value of the booking there should be ticket numbers.

Question

Looking and going to Langkawi next year however with a stop over in KL (on return) for a couple of nights.

So ideally

MEL - KUL - LGK (stay 7 nights)
LGK - KUL (3 nights)
KUL - MEL

Is this all possible? or would I need to book some segments individually myself?

should be be within the rules... certainly if the domestic flights are operated by MH mainline and not firefly.

I don't know what the policy is for USDM being able to book firefly flights.

If they're all operated by MH it should be a very easy redemption to make - the stopover is completely within the rules as MH's hub. If the flights are operated by Firefly I don't think they can be booked as Firefly isn't a member of 1W just as JQ isn't?

firefly is kinda weird. whereas JQ has it's own flight numbers, firefly doesn't actually operate any flights as far as I'm aware.. they're 100% MH coded. and I don't actually think you can book a firefly flight?

but I know BA dun like firefly in terms of earning or something.

Thanks for the info and help

The better connections with flights into KL are with MH flights anyway so probably won't be an issue.

Actually, they do:

Actually, they do:

]

well... there you go :)

guess that makes it a more likely 'no earning', in line with BA's earn/spend charts.

MH3000-3999 are also excluded by BA.... operated by MASwings. is it MASwings I'm getting confused that doesn't operate under it's own flight numbers (only MH)?
