US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

No EY, just QF and BA were coming up, then once LHR was reached they also had some Air Berlin and Finnair to get to FRA which was one of the options i had a look at...

MH can only be booked over the phone using AAdvantage miles. I had a friend book earlier in the year using the buy miles promo with AA and availability was high (around the Monaco F1). Was to LHR and CDG

Hopefully AA rules do get an update and some relaxing as I hope Perth members won't get screwed... At the moment with *A we have SAA, TG, SQ... Not sure if there are any China airlines in there, not that i find them particularly tempting anyway...

With OW we will have QR (seems we can't use it), MH, CX and QF which flies to SFA from WA... So if MH is also an issue for transits to Europe it could leave some slim pickings or require backtracks over to the East Coast to start with... I guess EY will be coming to Perth in 2014, but is that another ME transit that won't be allowed???

This merger really does suck!!!

Air China is quite decent from all reports I've seen.... anyhou, what about CX via HKG, MH via KUL, QF / BA via SIN? Still looks like a few options to me.

Reading the AA master post on Flyertalk (not the AA wiki), it seems someone may have slipped in the hint that you can travel from South Pacific to Europe via more than SIN and BKK, which includes HKG, KIX and NRT; but unfortunately still not KUL or the Middle East.

Well that's what i was saying, when i use their map tool for the admittedly few searches i did no MH/KUL or CX/HKG options came up and they didn't list those two ports as being options in a link earlier giving more info on AA's T&C's, but then a poster has said you can access MH by phone, i hope the same holds true for CX as well...

PER-BKK-PEK(TG)-ARN(CA)-LHR(SK) all in J
LHR-BKK(BR)-PER(TG) all in J

Taxes $485.18 + $50 booking fee. Thanks APD.

I haven't tried the AA tool, but considering that AA can hardly book all of its partners (include oneworld) online, it may be a case that you just can't see MH or CX options on the map. I don't know if this is true if, for example, you tried searching ORD/HKG or JFK/HKG and seeing if you get CX, AA or both options.

Most people will end up calling AA and copping the assistance fee anyway when it comes to booking most of these awards, mainly because they aren't necessarily straight-out simple.

Guess the only way is to search for an option then call up AA to try it out.

I don't think you can even find these kinds of rules we're discussing on AAdvantage sites! Happy to be corrected there, but it's insane that people have only found this out through some trial and error, or prodding the right people.

And the world is at peace again. :p Yep, the APD will do that to you. Luckily, you're not paying (right?)

I've given the option to stay at the 747 hotel/hostel thing or the Radisson Blu (2 options for RB), so once that's sorted.. all done!

Booked a Guam trip in April next year over easter.

SYD-ICN-NRT J (STOP) (5 nights)
NRT-GUM J (DEST) (3 nights)
GUM-HKG-BKK-SYD J (Overnight in HKG so that we can see the city)

All j, 30,000 miles per person, $333 taxes and booking fee.

Where have people stayed in Guam they recommend? Was thinking of Hyatt regency on points.

Nice one. Any issues with the stopover?

We are booked in at Westin on refundable with the plan to use some SPG points instead once I have them transferred.

Not a single question was raised about the stop over or the itinerary in general. I dont think the agent was really clear on the requirements she just let the computer do the points calculation and locked in the flights I had found as requested.

Westin looks like the best property in Guam I think... Just have a bunch of Hyatt points to use up so some decisions to be made!

I am flying the same routes in F (some in J and one in Y) next week (stopover in HKG instead of NRT)..

Have booked the Hilton for 3 nights... If I like guam I might book a different itinerary for easter as well!

Fairly simple one - I'm going to take advantage of the extended break this April where Easter Monday and Anzac Day are only 3 days apart, I will take them off and go see my mum in Russia.
SYS-PEK-SVO stop
SVO-PEK-SYD
all in J (I know their J isn't the best but Singapore Airlines J seats are not available and Thai fly to DMD but I need to get to SVO to connect to an Aeroflot flight to MMK where mum lives), 120K miles and $155 in taxes and fees altogether.

The whole process took 10 minutes. Never got an email with the ticket number and itinerary but I can go into their reservations and see the ticket number there so I guess I'm fine. Going to ring Air China in Sydney tomorrow to choose seats

Actually most of Air China's J hard product looks pretty decent.
