Oh believe me, I do appreciate it. Must be a system glitch - or they really do have some geographically challenged agents.....
The guy offered to check the taxes with the rates desk as he thought 500 was high. Ended up explaining APD to him myself and could not pay quick enough!!!!!

Really should call back and confirm the correct milage was taken as we all know the difference between right and wrong

So, can I take it that you won't accept a 'mistake' fare then ?

No judgment on my part

Just simply curious to know.

Im just passing on the expert advice I was given when I was first starting out. Btw I heard USDM devalue in June 1st so be careful what you buy.

i know he has some history, but if he has a link to back it up it could perhaps redeem his past behaviour. and if there is any information out re the specifics of any devaluation this might affect people's decisions on the latest 100% buy offer.

perhaps i haven't read enough of his posts, but i'm keeping an open mind on this one. Shanye2233 - got a link?

There are people on FT who claim to know people who know people (i.e. work at US or AA in some capacity) who are saying use your miles now. I haven't seen the Jun 1 thing mentioned but I wouldn't surprise me. However in this case with the actual details I'll have to err on the side of a wind up - boy who cried wolf n'all that.

I'd more say, who cares. Devaluations? Yeah, they are probably coming, and as history will show us, they could come there and then with no warning.

That's the game. If you choose to play, you roll with it. The people who ultimately burn their miles close to when they buy them and achieve their flying goals will be the winners.

I have been telling people I know who have points - USE them ASAP. People who have had points in the past and want to buy/share etc I tell them to HOLD OUT and buy in a few months when the program is a bit more clearer. AA recently devalued WITHOUT WARNING and based on that precedent they would appear to be ready, willing and ABLE to change any terms of their program overnight. If they gave some notice (even a few weeks) then I would be telling OK, knock yourself out, buy points (at least in the worst case you can always book something when they announce it). Now, the ball is in AA/US' court and they can do things without giving you notice.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Any points that are in the bank, well they're paid for...I've long since forgotten that I ever had the cash! I might go from having the points for 3 J returns to Europe to 2...well, it will still be a great deal. Ho hum.

Exactly!
A devaluation will probably mean that USDM redemptions will transform from being the best value in the market to just another good miles redemption. Still better then paying cash for J/F.

Yes, but what you neglect to mention is that in the time you've been advising people to hold out there have been 3 share promos and they would have missed out on these too. And US have still yet to devalue despite all the warnings going back to since the merger was first announced (how long is this, nearly a year now?). Personally I would not be BUYING but I would be sharing if/when the option arises given this to me at least balances the risk of devaluation against the risk of missing out.

See my bolding of your comment. I am calling you on this to prove this assertion or I want you to retract your post. IF you are able to show that assertion I will happily admit I am wrong and voluntarily ban myself from USDM for the rest of 2014. Every post that I make here is not to benefit myself but to share the information, opinions and ideas - and potentially help others.

Ok retracted, I have no interest in searching your posts, if you tell us you have been a fan boy then despite your own statement above you have been advising against buying Ill take your word for it.

The reason WHY you have no interest in searching my posts is because there is NO posts of mine that will assist you in what you FALSELY said of me. That is WHY I called you to prove what you asserted.
