It might have been appropriate (but I'm not sure that was the reason black was chosen), but it was still a really bad look. Especially with the sunglasses.

No colour choice would have been accepted by all - white would create KKK comments, pink, green or yellow would have been disrespectful for the occasion, medical mask would have meant a healthcare worker is going without PPE comments. I remember when Obama wore a tan suit and Fox had an absolute meltdown over it.

yep, you did hear that. Face masks are a political statement in the US of A. I also saw two scenes, a person not wearing a mask in a Democrat held area being aggressively hounded out of the store and, the same thing happening in a Republican held area. A person in the store wearing a face mask was very aggressively dealt with and also left very quickly. How stupid can this get.

Ah, good to know these are the important issues facing the US right now.

Well, if you think so. I just made the point that it wasn't a good look - specifically referring to the colour of the mask, coupled with dark sunglasses (that's all). But its interesting to see the constructions various folk have put on it.

EDIT: let me explain my thinking. Not everyone in the US is a Trump hater or a Trump lover. I don't think the Democrats will be swaying Independents/undecideds to vote for Biden when an image like the one I posted gets plastered everywhere.

A student of history could , perhaps , present a believable case for an increasing rate of fall to the already precipitous decline of the US in terms of International political relevance and the nations military and economic strength and stability.
China otoh appears unstoppable , all the ducks lined up… Intellect , discipline, and an Economy upon which most of the world depends.
Emotion might ask for continuing supplication to the US, however applied intellect seems to demand subservience to China.

I don't disagree with your thinking. But it's still a long time to November. I can see the Trump campaign throwing up this image as part of an overall "do you want this president", but TBH that image is probably far less effective (it almost comes across as a "strong" look) than video clips of the "folksy" blunders Biden often makes, and the attacks raising question against the man's senility.

But don't forgot it's not just about "swaying independents/undecideds to vote for Biden" (that's a very Australian perspective), it's also about persuading committed democrats to turn up to vote for Biden. That's why Trump was so successful in 2016 - not that he won over independents - he motivated many previously apathetic republicans to actually turn up and vote for him, in states where it actually mattered.

Was just reading the American papers and I see reports that Trump is quite unsteady with a weakness on the right hand side. There are Twitter clips of him raising a right hand with a small glass of water and having to help it up to his mouth with his left hand. And another clip of him unsteadily lopsidedly going down a very short ramp.

And, he mispronounces “General Gargther“.

He has a 19,000 person rally this weekend. I suppose he will be closely observed.

It seems a very fragile "democracy" that sacks their law enforcement organisations in favour of anarchic dark matters , and selects potential leaders of (at best) questionable suitability.
I am sure that many in the the US can smell smoke and hear a stringed instrument .
History would suggest that any useful public awareness will be too little and far too late
