Family feud!

Donald Trump’s sister described the US President as cruel and a liar whose lack of principles meant he could not be trusted, according to a secretly-made recordings published on Sunday.

Maryanne Trump Barry slammed her brother over his immigration policy under which children were separated from their parents at the border and sent to detention centres.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” she said in recordings obtained by the Washington Post. “He has no principles. None. His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God.”

The recordings were secretly made by the President’s niece Mary Trump, whose memoir on the “toxic family” was published last month.

Mary Trump sounds as classy as her uncle.

What happened in the early days was undoubtedly tragic but there was so little understood at that time. Information that came out of New York re inflammation and deaths in younger patients from strokes really helped in preventing deaths as the virus spread.

let’s have a look at some stats in more recent days. California did get the virus early and deaths have continued. Florida and Texas were very late to start getting infected. However deaths per million:-

California. 307
Texas. 404
Florida. 479

Even more enlightening are the disparity on amounts of funding to different states to assist with the pandemic. On the surface you can skim over and not notice what went on. If you work out the funding provided by $/population or $/infections or contributors to federal coffers it is startling the bias in allocations to states headed by Governors from his own party and those who did not criticise him at any point.

He offered new working ventilators to Russia while at the same time shipping inoperative / unusable units to NYC.

... From other reports his hotels (in NYC particularly) have been doing very well from diplomats and other government officials seeking to be looked upon more favourably.
Washington DC has been a good one as well, for the same reason. Hoping to curry favour?

Mar-a-Lago does well when 100+ Government handmaidens/secret service/etc, stay over, as with some of his other properties where he goes golfing. For the first 3 years as POTUS, Trump spent about one-third of his time at his properties. Reports of up to $650/night, although some are less, per entourage-member, billed to the taxpayer.

Of course 4th on that list is New York with 1694 deaths per million. And another 16 states with higher deaths per million than Florida. It shouldn't be about politics. Both sides have done terribly in some places and better in others.
The 3 States you mention are all though in the lower categories for their mortality rate compared to case rate. All are under 2% mortality but New York at 7% and New Jersey at 8%.

Under 72 days to the election. 😀

Not that many of us can vote. Although, there’s one perhaps, who may have the ear of the King. 😉

Interesting you should mention that. Given that Trump promised all his supporters he wouldn't play golf while in office and complained about Obama repeatedly.

Around USD140M so far spent on travel for golfing sessions.

In the first 870 days in office he made 175 golfing trips at a cost of USD102M. On average he is at one of his clubs every 4.8 days.

On top of the huge expenses incurred at a federal level for the secret service etc, each fiscal year he has been in office, special grants from the Homeland Security budget have been made of USD41M per annum to local authorities to cover their expenses for his trips for golfing, his apartment in NYC, etc. That doesn't include the costs of his secret service resources, accommodation, flights etc picked up separately by the Feds. (Airforce One costs USD206K per hour to operate)

Mar-o-Largo trips are estimated to have cost USD64M. (Four trips alone cost USD14M).

According to this site, cases per 100,000 of population, 5 out 6 worst infection rates in states run by GOP Governors. The worst, Louisiana Democratic Party.

I was trying to make the point that New York (and many others) in those early days had horrendous death rates because they were totally blown away and didn’t really know what to do. Many of the things we know now like using steroi_s to counteract inflammation came as a result of what was learnt in Italy, New York etc. Both Texas and Florida had all the benefit of that knowledge because their wave happened in very recent days. So not a simple case of a Blue governors and mayors stuffed it and the red states are pure as driven snow. ( and yes I took my figures from worldometers. ), which was the comment I was responding to.

No rational person, whatever their political bent, could possibly believe Trump has exercised any leadership in the crisis. As I have stated before I don’t care about democrats or republicans - I just want this evil man gone.

Trump is know to be an avid twitter using, some days up to 200 tweets in a day. Also said to have size envy as Obama even out of office for nearly 4 years has the most followers of anyone in the world (102M).

Some interesting stuff on the web about his twitter account:

...allegedly 85M followers but 30% aren't "real" (bots etc). There are thousands of bots configured to retweet him and like his tweets to make it look like he has many more active followers than actual

...the most covid & 5G conspiracy theory misinformation in the world comes from his account and bots that "follow" him.

...his usage is so prolific and weird that there are people studying it

Same as Obama and Romney in 2012: The Invasion of the Twitter Bots

But not death rates where New York and New Jersey top the lists of deaths per 100000.Massachusets comes in 3rd which has a Republican Governor but the Democrats have controlled both house of the State government. The only totally controlled Republican States in the worst 10 on mortality per 100000 people are Mississippi at 8th and Arizona at 10th.

You should also look at the number of citizens risk per state as how many over 65s the State has.Maine,Democrat, has 20.6%,Florida,R,20.5% and West Virginis,R,19.9%.
Their deaths per 100000 are Maine-97,West virginia-98,Florida 479.
But of these Florida is the most densely populated and has a much higher number of immigrants. Both the others are maily white states with West Virginia being worse off economically than Maine.

One of the first things the Governor of Florida dis when covid hit was to distribute PPE to all Aged Care properties. But of course Florida was also the major State affected by the crowds on Spring Break.

Son as I said before Covid should not be a political point scoring exercise cherry picking data. Both sides had places that performed well and places that performed badly.

... Covid should not be a political point scoring exercise cherry picking data ...
Yes, of course, but it is being used for political reasons, especially in the USA. That’s the reality.

Before jumping into data patterns, I wonder what people’s guess is of the mix of ethnicities in the USA.

I KNOW it was on “Planet America” the other night and when I first delved into % I was way off the mark....

This is how the voting went

This is the info of population by ethnicity

There’s some strong data patterns that explain Trumps 2016 victory.

As for 2020, all things being equal, he will win again based on ethnic demographics.

Spread, depth and longevity matter
This is what won the 2016 election

Features of Democratic Voting States
> 3.1% of Asian ethnicity in State
High % Hispanic in the diversity
High concentration of one ethnicity in State (Maine. Vermont, New Hampshire)
High depth of two ethnicities (Caucasian & Hispanic) in State
Diluted spread within state aggregate non-Caucasians > 20%

Features of Republican Voting States

Recent Migrants don’t get to vote
Voluntary voting
Older people do vote
Right to bear arms

Demography
< 3% of Asian ethnicity in State
> 4% native Americans in State
High depth of two ethnicities (Caucasian & African) in State

Texas by the data patterns ought be Dem but isn’t .
I suspect it’s to do with plenty of non-citizen residents, Cuba Communism and Asian IT Workers.

This leads to this backstory and the quotes from in this article

People are cynical about politics and elections, but the cynical should go and try to live under the alternative where you don't get to choose those in power.

In 1947, Winston Churchill told the House of Commons: "Many forms of government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No-one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

Two years earlier, after leading his country to victory in war, Churchill's Conservatives had been smashed at the first post-war election.

Churchill had experience with how the great and powerful can be brought down by democracy.

It is the power of powerless individuals, voting in private and without intimidation, and how it can produce dramatic change without violence that is always the most uplifting part of elections.

Despite that, there’s plenty of “preaching to the choir” in the USA.... AND they aren’t the ones you need to win.....

Would be interesting to see similar figures for the Obama election where many more blacks came out to vote.
Many of them stayed away for the Trump election. Biden and Harris, the virus mishandling by trump and BLM may inspire a higher black vote to return.
