US election 2020

So asking China, Russia and Ukraine to help him out in the election is OK, as is Russian hacking of voting machine software and running thousands of conspiracy theory robots on facebook etc but a couple hundred votes in earlier elections that were detected and rectified is vastly more important and deserves the delaying of the election (so he has more time to try and find a vaccine)

He suggests the cancelling of mail in voting (which he and his family have used willingly on multiple occasions) so people have a choice of queuing for hours and possibly not getting to vote (as has happened in recent months) during a pandemic or not voting at all.

That looks like a very balanced and unbiased "news" source - not.

More falsehoods. You need to educate yourself on the difference between absentee voting and universal mail-in voting.

One other thing I don't understand is that lots of attribution of polls showing specific leads as bias, eg. lots of polls showing Biden as leading are dismissed by those on the right, as being a product of the biased left wing media. I tell you what if I was running a media outlet with a left wing pro-Biden bias, I'd be doing my utmost (in an environment, remember, where voting is not compulsory), to show Trump ahead in the polls, to make his supporters more complacent and Biden supporters more likely to turn up. 🤣

I totally agree with this statement, it is better to look at all types of media in the US to get a better picture, and each state has its own views too

It's not news. It's a documentary.

Explains very clearly how Government contractors built and use data intelligence to make you think and act in certain ways.
The folks who control the information warfare don't give two-hoots who is in power.

Spencer is a real peach. Biden has already renounced his support. Americans are used to these outspoken disasters, just look at trump. The vast majority of Neo naz_s are still trump supporters.

Meanwhile the neo-naz_ Richard Spencer has endorsed Joe Biden. Surely the media will incessantly spend the next 70 odd days demanding that Biden denounce Spencer.

There has been a telling contrast comparing the Democratic and Republican Conventions the past week and a bit - the Democrats spent a week nastily and incessantly shouting "Orange Man Bad" and denigrating America as a terrible racist nation. By contrast, the Republicans have given us uplifting optimism, love of America, and a desire to see America achieve its full potential. Tim Scott and Nikki Haley gave terrific speeches, as did Trump Junior.

Obviously there are plenty of elements of Biden's policy platform that Spencer supports. Unsurprising given Biden's long history of ongoing racism and endorsement of KKK figures in the Senate including Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd.

Yep, naaasty.

I get that. Both sides will be making statements that appeal to their base and each crowd in turn will interpret what they heard from their own perspective as resonating, re-affirming or as you phrased it up-lifting and the other guys are bad guys saying the wrong things.

I think anyone sitting on the fence would see aspects of both as expressing a desire for their country to achieve its potential.

Obviously each 180 degree opposed thoughts on what it is that needs to be done.

Natural human responses.

China is now a bully.

Definitely - and coming for Australia, at least economically.

Trump is the bodyguard of the western civilisation?

No, but America has been. Europe has no stomach for a hard fight.

So, as far as Australia is concerned on the China issue, who would be best in the White House? This isn't an endorsement of Trump, by the way :) , but asking the question: Which candidate is more likely to stand up to China? Trump has said lots. Was China even mentioned at the Democrat convention? (I didn't follow either convention at all, but saw some news reports). What's Biden's policy on China? Any idea who his Sec State might be?

IMHO very good thoughts/ideas.

My personal take is that beneath the "presidency", there is a whole machine of US thought that is not really directly tied to either side of "domestic" politics. I think that this body of power and influence is actually extremely aware of the "challenges" that China poses. even if Biden gets in, I think that the overwhelming US sentiment will be "anti-China" for decades now. As it will be in many countries.

It is about time that we all wake up and smell the roses. China is for China, at all costs. there is no sentiment of global well-being emanating from there.

Something I saw on TV tonight...

PLEASE NO, this isn’t the Apprentice You don’t get to be the forever dictator....

Trump muttering the words 12 more years

Why stop at 12 more years?!

Speaking of real dictators who destroy lives.... when is the next Victorian election?

Because Term Limits avoid the extraordinary vacuum of power left behind when a long-term ruler dies...by then all the potential replacements are well and truly purged from whatever’s remnants are left of the “political party”

USA imposed Presidential Term limits while FDR was in the Chair
China after Mao died, only to unravel that in the past year

What we are seeing in Vic is a form of “communalism” Kumbiya we are all in this together.Cuba “communism” social order...public housing towers locked down without notice authorative socialism

Not surprised people aren’t liking it. It’s a taste of the alternative which is very unpalatable especially when served up without ‘sugar’.

I’m sure the Victorians voters will get it right. Voters always do. Those who take unfettered advantage of their ambitious power are generally voted out...

I was kidding, just like Trump is. He's right it gets some people all worked up.

Voting someone out for massive abuse of power isn't what I'd consider 'get it right'.
There must be prosecutions and people held accountable - not just fall guys.

Similar to how USA is taking down the corruption - ie: Kevin Clinesmith the former FBI lawyer who pleaded guilty to falsifying emails in the Russia probe.
