What I took from the snippets of the RNC I came across is that America is in a big mess, the worst its ever been, (by most measures got that way in the last 4 years), we don't have any substantial policies to announce any different to before, so elect Trump for another 4 years Mr Law and Order 😲

The snippets from the DNC was very much OMG, what has Trump done to us, and what will he do if he is given free reign for another 4 years, we need someone to replace him. Also big on "Biden cares". I didn't see a whole lot of policies, but there was at least some reference to proposed actions.

Would be interesting to see similar figures for the Obama election where many more blacks came out to vote.
Many of them stayed away for the Trump election. Biden and Harris, the virus mishandling by trump and BLM may inspire a higher black vote to return.

Here’s a starting place for 2008 - in fact it lists results since 2000

So someone, a white guy throws something at a kid with an assault rifle - he shoots him dead

The same said kid while on the ground is thumped by a skateboard by a second white guy protestor - he shoots him dead...

The same said kid is still on the ground approached by a third white guy who brandishes his pistol - he shoots him in the upper arm survives.

And yes, there’s photos floating around of these incidents

Troubled Americans ....

It’s now an open “civil” war and shows what happens when lawlessness takes over with no means of reaching any civil resolution.

African Americans can’t outvote White Americans they simply don’t have the mathematics on their side.

Persuasion isn’t anyones strong suite but increasingly who will voters choose if this is the wretched state of affairs

Looting, rioting,

I'm actually wondering who is behind some of the more egregious looting and rioting. If you were trying to get people out to vote for DJT, who's going to make law and order a big part of his campaign, well it's not really in your best interest to have peaceful protests. The more rioting and looting the better!

Thanks for posting that analysis. Very interesting. What I took from it is that Trump needs uneducated non-urban whites to come out in force for the election and hope that educated urban people of all races not bother/abstain from voting (which seemed to be what happened in 2016).

Ah, that would be the stoooopid rednecks who vote for Trump. Hilary Clinton tried that type of characterisation, viz, the deplorables. Also a tactic of the Greens in Australia, viz the Bob Brown convoy. Love it!

Any idea how many with bachelor college degrees ? Vs so called “uneducated”?

70% will outvote the 30% the iron rule of mathematics

Only an iron rule where it is compulsory to vote. If it’s not - and if 70% of the 30% choose to vote and 30% of the 70% choose to vote, it comes a very close contest, at 21% each with the remaining 58% choosing not to vote.

Isn't the problem that more than half don't turn up to vote? Simplistically it seems to me because they (1) don't have to (2) will only vote for someone they support as opposed to the least of two evils (3) they are not engaged in the process (4) they have to take a day off work to vote [always a Tuesday?]

However, the 538 article surmises there is a lot more at play.

And if the 30% of the 70% are mostly in high population states that they win easily you won't need as much as 70% of the 30% to win the electoral college.

It is not just law and order but who is going to go against China and stand up for freedom against dictatorship... Using HK as an example

Do you believe either of the candidates have a solid policy and process to deal with that? That's a question - seeking information.

I don't watch that close but it seems from the little I have observed; confused belligerent inconsistent/ineffective actions from one, the other one almost silent on the issue and proposals virtually opaque.

I am not a trump or Biden supporter, but on this issue alone, I feel Trump is stronger in defending USA over China via the sanctions on China so far... but there are other issues affecting Americans now

So do you feel China is a bigger threat or equal threat or lesser than Russia?
Is Trump able to defend US against Russia?

I feel perhaps the Democrats might have dropped the ball had a Democratic president been in office (not just if Hillary Clinton was in the chair). But now China has ‘no clothes on’ and I feel both sides of US politics equally equipped re China threat.

The family constant “quoting” from Pres Lincoln on things that he never said. 😄

My take away from the RNC is they have no policy platform, not even to try and fix things they have broken, as for wheeling out your own family geez.
