I haven't fact checked his post but thought it's pretty par for the course

Not that it relevant to the US election in my view, but President Trump has been nominated. This second time is for next year's award. Same guy nominated last time a couple of years back. Nominations can be by anyone apparently.

President Trump says about President's Obama's peace prize

“He had no idea why he got it and you know what, that was the only thing I agreed with him on,” Trump said.

President Obama received his Nobel prize eight months into his presidency for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

I kind of agree with President Trump re: President Obama's peace award ....lol

Given his statements on Europe, NATO, Mexico, most central American countries, the USs own territories in the Caribbean, most African countries, Cuba, most Muslim countries, Canada's Prime Minister, treatment of AUs previous PM and China in general Trump appears to have done the opposite of the reasons for the Obama award.

Not too sure of the background to the deal going on in the Middle East. A lot of back room stuff and conveniently forgetting some previous statements (aka Saudis solely responsible for 9/11). If they pull off a lasting peace in the middle east then kudos to him or whoever managed it.

30+ people dead in bushfires, but the trump empathetic contribution is that it will get cold again and “science doesn’t know”.
OK then.

This may be a tad OT:
Just in case he and some others are wrong, I’ll be preparing my home emergency kit as usual. The radio will be tuned to the ABC so that I will know whether to stay or leave, and I will not be on my a*se watching Skye coughpy news.

What? Where’s the wine?

The problem is once again science is losing out to ideology.Fire scientists in the main say that fuel load is the most important factor in the severity of wild fires.
Now Climate Change may increase the chances of a fire starting and certainly is increasing the growth rate of trees etc so adding to the fuel load.So the solution is to deal with the fuel load.

However there is another reason for many of the fires this year on the USA West Coast.

On top of all that Trump was saying the same thing a year ago.

So why didn't he do anything? They're predominately federal forests that are burning and he's in charge of the government.

You didn't read right through that article did you. There was a plan in place but in typical public service fashion the plan was to be put in place next summer-ie now.
Also in the article there was a similiar review of forest lands in 2010.But the President then did nothing.

<snip>
The people who have a deep hatred for Trump will vote for Biden for the sake of it, but I'm yet to hear anyone make a convincing argument that Biden is an attractive candidate in and of himself. I'm not sure you can win purely on an anti-the-other-person platform.

Bingo! ^^^

In addition to that, if you look at Trump 'peaceful protest' versus ANY of Biden's in-person appearances, it's blatantly clear Trump has it in the bag.

“Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate in our 175-year history — until now. The 2020 election is literally a matter of life and death. We urge you to vote for health, science and Joe Biden for President.

May I suggest a thread on climate change, or not or whatever you wish to call it. Then all of this stuff that came up last summer can go in that thread.

I read a statement recently that I would appreciate knowing a little more about and more importantly testing its veracity (out of pure curiosity)

*This is not an invitation to partisan political responses from some on here but some facts of if it did occur and the impact, if any, on modern day elections. i.e. Facts*

The statement that I cannot now find right at the moment paraphrased from memory - the current electoral colleges do not represent the democratic majority of the general population due to (some time way in the past) some southern states falsely inflating their number of citizens to try and counterbalance the fact their were more citizens in the northern states; the current electoral college is still reflecting the actions in history.

I don't understand (was this a memo to self? 🤔 🧐)

To be honest.. Climate change is likely to be a topic for Australian elections as well - after what happened in January this year is a grim reminder of what can happen

Well I guess I was hoping to avoid the multiple references and paragraphs supporting climate change links that prove a point or not rather than the one sentence that I posted. I still feel we need a climate change / not, because it pops up in everything.
