And on Wednesday PB is operating domestic :
02NOV11
DJ134 1430SYD-1605MEL 738
DJ135 1645MEL-1810SYD 738
Operated by Pacific Blue
What
One of those nasty foreign aircraft on a Aussie domestic route
It may have a nasty low paid foreign cabin crew & pilots. :o.
How many pacific peso's does it take to buy those licenses.
Can they speak strine ?
Will it need to have an full engineering check by the comrades from the union ? :?:
Will it fall out of the sky ?
The union comrades will not be happy

The take off roll was surprisingly long for relatively few pax, so I wouldn't be massively surprised if there was a stack of freight on board.

I understand the plane was due to fly straight back to SYD in order to operate a service to AUH (it was otherwise going to sit on the tarmac at SYD)

It appears they are sending the 777 back to Sydney empty . Just about to depart Melb now as DJ9501.

I would have rather gone back on that instead of the 737, considering DJ849 is now not a BSI aircraft as I was led to believe . No live2air either so going to miss the Cup on Sky....grrr.

I was wrong it is BSI interior , just the old livery . Very nice .

Not a BSI then, it's a refit of its red. Same seats though

No, its not a BSI, it is a re-fitted aircraft. BSI is the lighting, configured overhead bins and other stuff, but you can easily tell if you have one with the Virgin Australia Livery, has rego VH-YF*-Vh-YV* or VH-YI* something, and the little antenna at the back. But for the moment if you get a virgin australia livery 737, it is a BSI apart from VH-VUY that is configured. So no BSI, re-fitted as it has the old VB livery. Something we need to do out homework on!

hooorrayyy!

Could be a nice additional service to utilise the aircraft if it was able to be boarded via jetway at both ends… unfortunate that it’s too big :p

Yes your right , refitted aircraft . Too many variants I still haven't got my head around . Still a marked improvement on the old , although I do miss my live2air.

What's with the letter ?
From a regulatory perspective, V Australia (VA) is still a separate airline from Virgin Blue (DJ) (which may still be the official name for domestic Virgin Australia ops). I'm guessing that there is a regulatory requirement to notify passengers that they will be flown by an airline other than how they were booked originally, and thus given the opportunity to not fly. Still odd though because from the start it seems like this flight said, "operated by V Australia" or something along those lines on the web site. But it might be that there is officially no codeshare agreement that allows VA to operate codeshare DJ flights, so it is treated as if they are separate airlines completely, without codeshare, in which case passengers have the right to refuse carriage from an airline other than where they've booked.

The boarding passes stated 'Operator: Virgin Australia' so who knows (your suggestion is what I would have believed as well based on them technically being separate airlines still for the mean time).

Most va flights are listed with virgin Australia and v Australia ( and now nz ) flight numbers , also all the skywest flights use va flt numbers and no letter there. I think it's either because it was a charter flight, or some rubbing of qf's nose in it ever so subtly :)

I had to laugh about a month ago in BNE - a flight was called as "Virgin Australia flight DJ***, Air NZ flight ***, Virgin Atlantic flight ***, Delta Airlines flight ***, Singapore Airlines flight ***, Etihad flight *** and V Australia flight ***"... forgot what the actual DJ flight number was, but I don't think they were supposed to read *all* of those flight codes somehow - particularly as the SQ details are yet to be fully finalised haha! ... have not noticed it since - they've been sticking to only announcing the DJ, NZ, EY and VA codes from what I've heard :)
