I believe XFE was delayed and started its transformation yesterday.

All 6 will be done and dusted, flying the skies next week.

Bring on March for the 777s :)

I was scheduled to be on its last flight but I flew ahead to get the new config:)

Is the 777 refurb on track? Any word on that? Maybe I've not used my eyes enough haha!

Depends who you ask.

I'm my opinion, no it's not because it was supposed to have started this month (and was even in the Voyeur magazine as a "front-page" JB article).
I think the latest dates have the 777 refresh starting late Jan/ early Feb and finishing a couple of months later.
I expect it will be complete approx June 2016ish.

Wouldn't be overly surprised if they fit the 777s with WiFi as part of the refurb.

I'd read that the new schedule for the 777 refurb is due for completion by May next year.

I think they are due to be completed this month, if not already

Any one got any news this week on the PER-MEL routes.

Flights are showing as A330's but it looks like they are still running some 737's on the routes intermittently.

I've got a MEL-PER-MEL next week, and want to book a J reward seat.

I'd hate to get sub'd for a 737 J seat. I might aswell go Y and find a empty row up back.

The last A330 J class installation was completed today so the regular schedule should be restored tomorrow.

I'm quite tall, and was wondering if the legroom in the first row of seats is less than that in the other rows? When I last flew (row 5), I noticed that the legspace went up alongside the seat in front of me - so I'm curious as to how it's handled in row 1? Cheers!

From my experiences, there's no real 'bulkhead' – every seat seems identical, with the same footwell/screen setup in row 1 as every other seat. No extra legroom that I could tell.

PER-MEL VA696 red-eye flight tomorrow night has been downgraded from A330 to 737 :( Was looking forward to two hours of sleep. Oh well!

I was a little disappointed to discover that from April it appears most PER-SYD red-eye flights have been switched to 737s (was mostly looking at Thursday and Friday departures for a long-weekend getaway). Seems a shame for the A330 business product not be used on the red-eye flights - isn't that the whole point of the flat-bed seats?

What a bummer if that's the case - I'm looking at heading over to the East Coast in September on a red-eye with an early morning connection to CBR, and was really hoping to get "the business" for the coast-to-coast sectors. I'm looking at a Tuesday or Wednesday night at the moment though, and they still seem to be 332s via both SYD and MEL, so hopefully they'll stay that way.

That is crazy - obviously the A330's are being redeployed on International sectors but who would want to be in J 737 on a 4-5 hour red eye!

which international sectors are they obviously being redeployed on?

I did happen to notice some A330s flying MEL-NAN later next year when I was searching the other week - were they only on SYD-NAN before?

This is very bad news. A complete reversal of sentiment and intent. Marketing disaster.

I ended up booking PER-MEL-SYD for the red-eye on 22nd April, as that still has an A330 allocated, the evening return PER-SYD a few days later was still an A330.

Just booked PER-MEL-PER in April, both daytime flights and showing as an A330, hoping it stays that way!
