I have a tip from VA crew that some of them have signed on to operate to SIN in the next few months. Not sure from which airport, possibly BNE to start with...

I think Virgin's older brother (SQ) will not be happy with this.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that VA agreed not to fly into SIN when SQ purchased VA shares.

Probably the same with EY

The story I heard was PER-SIN on the 332s. Direct from Galley FM so make of it what you will..

Having just read this article below and others i would not rule out VA flying to SIN

In fact that article suggests VA into SIN was to strengthen the partnership rather than weaken it. Maybe SQ are more interested in providing extra capacity to shaft QF's moves, then they themselves can offer, rather than be concerned over partnership competition. Partnership competition can be manipulated and capacity may be the card they're playing............but then again, what would I know. I'm just an int. noob!

I'm guessing it'll be replacing the EY SIN-BNE service, that never really made much sense to me!

I wonder what SQ thinks about it... They have a fair amount of capacity into BNE now, and it always seems pretty full when I fly on it... They could easily boost it (and make some customers happy) by switching an A330 for a 380 too, if they have the 380 capacity available?

I suppose SQ would loose some pax to VA but will pick some up connecting to Europe and they both can expand their codesharing..

I could see SQ seeing it as a net benefit if it fed their network. Certainly that's how Etihad see the value of getting everyone else to fly to AUH. If it is PER that might make some sense of the move to allow International lounger access in the SQ lounge in PER for all VA flights as of last week?

I've also been told by a VA source that they are 'considering' starting a CBR - AKL service some time in the 'near' future. This from a company rep but without specific details.

Ok one suggestion: BME-SIN using 737. Would capture traffic originating in SIN and SQ destinations north and west of SIN, but not sure how much origin traffic from NW WA.

Im glad to see they are slowly expanding their int presence but VA are already short on 330 and 773 metal as it is, it's not like they have spare aircrafts they can deploy if one of the birds go tech unless they are getting more 330s or even 773 in q4.

Does the EK flights SYD-BKK, BNE-SIN, MEL-SIN, MEL-KUL make sense to you or not? How is it different.

The tiger acquisition will possibly free up some aircraft if they change some routes from VA to Tiger. Tiger has a big forward order from memory and there is 2 more 330's to come along with around 8 738's for VA by 2015 however you would only want to be on a 330 not 738 to Singapore and beyond. Any further slowdown in mining boom might free up a 330 or two.

Its makes sense that VA would want to fly at least one of their own aircraft to SIN, as that is a major hub for all their codeshare flights into Asia, just like they fly one plane to AUH.

I'm pretty sure those 2 330s aren't due until q2-3 2014, with the lack of 330s now they would surely have to enhance all 330 coast to coast to the 738 in order to get the larger birds to SIN. You surely wouldn't want to do a MEL/SYD/BNE SIN in a 738.

VA need to make the decision for the 787/350 now rather than later if they want to start growing and having more of a international presence just like VS. I love VA and want to fly exclusively with them on their metal but it's just not possible yet.

If VA could do a well timed flight to Singapore then that might switch a lot of Perth based Qantas fliers to look at either SQ or VA, although it would need a schedule out of left field.

the standard PER-SIN-PER day rotation may not work.

SIN-PER 9:30AM TO 3:00PM return PER-SIN 4:30PM-10:00PM

What ever VA want to do will probably need some approval from SQ, I just wish Perth Airport could hurry up and get renovated.

First things first - how about some direct flights between CBR-PER? QF only has one direct flight per day from CBR to PER. 9/10 flights I book from CBR to PER I book QF for that direct flight. The 1/10 times I don't is when I need to get there earlier - the QF direct flight gets into CBR/PER at around 9pm or 10pm depending on daylight savings.

They actually got the rights for this, or at least XR had applied for that route with an A320. I would assume that those rights were transferred with the XR purchase?
